Default Five tiny paintings and the sanglyph

Everytime I play this game I wonder why the paintings are so little. It doesn't really make a lot of sense trying to hide or protect the pieces of the sanglyph in such small works of art that you can just grab and put in your backpack. Besides it would have been a lot more epic if we got to see large or at least regular sized paintings hanging on the walls. Kind of like what you feel when looking at that beautiful tapestry of confined Eckhardt, in the vault's library.

Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if Lara removed the pieces from the 'thick wooden bases' and left the actual regular-sized paintings behind? It crossed my mind that maybe you could only manipulate them using the glove, but Lara does grab the Sanglyph in the last cutscene.

Also why do we have five paintings in the story if all we get to find are two? Same with the shards, why three?

I think the paintings were small exactly so they could be taken by hand and easily transported from one place to another. Also small paintings seem less valuable than big ones, so they'd be less likely to attract attention. The paintings weren't to show how important they are, but to hide something within.
Also small paintings seem more likely to fit inside Lara's backpack.

Also I think the amount of shards and paintings was so to make it seem more important to chase Eckhardt and get all the other paintings. I guess it was especially important in earlier versions of the story where you would encounter Eckhardt more often.

I mean, i think it's very much just a matter of practicality, although I do agree that huge, museum-sized paintings would be very impressive, especially with a dark theme. Maybe something like Goya's black paintings

Imagine Lara having to haul a 10ft tall painting out of Brother Obscura's tomb, through the flooded tomb, and again through the occupied Louvre!

First time playing the game I thought this was one of the many glitches that shrunk the scale of the paintings.

As someone who studied art history I was disappointed that Lara is going through all this trouble just for mini paintings. Imagine if the Mona Lisa was the size of those AOD paintings.

Well, she could have packed a strap that she would use to strap them onto her back and climb out that way.

I don't know why, but now if there is an AOD Remake, I want at least one of the paintings to be full-sized, so there's a section where Lara can only use one pistol as a weapon due to carrying it, and maybe let her use it as a club, like how people use shields to bash stuff, but with a painting

I think nakamichi680 has pretty much covered that one. Or is very close to it.
