What I do to eat happily is eat pizza, ice cream on a stick, and also have apple juice and grape juice. And also cotton candy.

US nutritional guidelines are complete bull****. "Eat lots of WHOLE GRAINS, avoid fat in any possible form, and it's ok to eat some sugar..." We're finally learning that fat does NOT make us fat at all, but processed wheat, starch, and sugar are to blame, and healthy fats will do wonders for us.

The same is true with cholesterol guidelines... Gotta have LOW LDL, or you'll have a heart attack! Fact is over half of people who have heart attacks have "normal" bad cholesterol or LDL, but usually have low HDL (good cholesterol), and meh TGL (triglyceride) levels. For those who care, HDL/TGL ratio is the biggest indicator of coronary health. At home we do our best to avoid:

  • Bread
  • Sugar
  • Candy of any kind
  • Processed crackers, snacks
  • Large amounts of meat
  • Anything but water, coffee, or tea to drink

Funny thing is, when my wife goes on a diet called the ketogenic diet, which is composed of a break down of 70/20/10 carbohydrate/protien/fat, she loses weight and feels great. The standard dietary guidelines would have you thinking that you'd gain a million lbs. The fact is dietary fat satiates the appetite and makes us eat less. Sugar and processed crap does the opposite.

I also eat gluten on a daily basis and gluten is only bad for people with celiac disease from what I've been told.

Gluten is almost always in processed food that has no nutritional value to begin with.

Fat is good to eat, especially in winter, when it's cold. I had some nice fatty chicken for lunch today.

The Eskimos pretty much lived on seal blubber a lot of the time, and they're still around.
