Totally agree, Mario 64, Gran Turismo 1 & 2, Resident Evil 1 & 2, Tomb Raider 1, 2 & 3, Goldeneye, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX, Ocarina Of Time, Nights Into Dreams, Grim Fandango and towards the end of the 90's Sonic Adventure & Shenmue. And many more games i havn't mentioned from the golden age of gaming!

Another item of interest gleaned from the retromags collection, this time from GamePro #97 Oct 1996, just a mention but the picture is certainly interesting.

Not that l have managed to get any yet but l think a few of the American playstation magazines also used comic art for their covers, perhaps they did not have permission to use the official ones so made their own. l would have thought the cover would have been known at this point, or they would have chosen to use one of the images they already had, but no they seem to have chosen to make their own, because l am sure if that picture had been official we would have seen it elsewhere.
GamePro in their E3 1995 review had mentioned that U.S. Gold (Core Design's owner and publisher back then) had a new Indiana Jones style adventure game in development called Tomb Raiders, it seems at E3 1996 there was some early footage shown. Some of the footage of course was not in the finished game (l actually doubt any of it was), although l am sure back then the fans appreciated seeing anything of the game certainly showing early footage does not seem to have done Tomb Raider's popularity any harm considering they were lining up to buy the game when it was released. Pity the fans these days are so spoilt, show them something that is cut from the final game and they do nothing but complain now, certainly they no longer seem to appreciate seeing the early game in development. Again retromags.com has provided the scans for us. It would seem even back then Core were experimenting with Lara wearing the glasses in game. Lara playing around with an early version of the scion. And Lara looking very much like she would in the final game. Last edited by aussie500; 07-07-17 at 10:04. |
