What the devil? My report came out today, and it turns out that I've failed all my classes.

All that work for nothing. I'm withdrawing.

I am really sorry to hear that, especially when you did the work. . I don't know much about american education system, but is it coursework that you failed in, or the exams?

I tested it out and I don't like it. I have to withdraw now before it gets worse. This whole semester was just awful. I have to change course. My grades reflect the fact that I do not care about what is being taught. Which is to say that I didn't get into the classes that I desired, and other classes were not available. I am not going to spend my time doing something I am not interested in.

This transcript will never see the light of day to the admissions office of any University I transfer to.

If you take two courses, one you did rubbish in and was completely off tracks in terms of what you are applying for, and the other is something you really enjoy, and is in line with what you are applying to for uni, I suspect that they would only take the relevant course into consideration.

Though if you know that you have already failed, than I don't see the harm in dropping out. But when you get onto the new course, don't tell them you dropped out of the old one because you were failing, just say weren't interested in the direction the other course was taking you, and you feel that you would feel much better in the course you wan't to apply for.

What course are you looking for now?

I wasn't in any classes that interested me. The whole thing was most definitely a waste of my time and energy. It's okay. I have options. Plenty of them.

For one, I wanted French and Korean classes, which they do not offer. I'm also looking for other classes that would be beneficial to me.

The curriculum was also off-putting. I was cautious about this particular community college before I attended. I've decided it's not for me.

It doesn't end here. It's only begun.

Are all college subjects in America just one specialised subject, or can you take 3 or 4?

I was going for Dental Assisting.

But before you are allowed into the program, you have to take..."starter courses" so that is
  • Computer Technology 101, (working with outdated Microsoft Word, Excel and other stuff I don't care about.)
  • Psychology, (a course that I found interesting, but the teacher was trash)
  • And your common English 101. I was doing fine in the classes with B+'s but when the finals came, I bombed, I did not have enough time to write the research paper and got a complete F. I didn't have enough time for any assignments really, I'm always working
.

But the curriculum was really in poor taste.

You can't really do a course and not have time because of the excuse in bold, i'm afraid. If you don't have time to do assignments, than your working too many hours.

So if you can't do a course in Dental Assisting because of the Phychology, can you not just take general subjects, things like English, science, Maths, Computing, Geography, History ect and then go into a more specialised course for uni... like dental assisting.

I don't want to waste time. For a long time I always thought I wanted to do Dental Assisting, but even now I'm not so sure.

It will just take me longer to decide what I really want to do and where I want to go. DA was going to be a stepping block, a LEVEL 1, so to speak, before I went off to bigger and better things.

So many people go to school seemingly for no reason, and when they come out, all they have is money to pay. It happens so often. But I need something I can get excited about, a real career.

I may still do Dental Assisting. I've tried it as well, but I sense it can get bery repetitive and might make me stir crazy. I need to explore more options.
