Default Most immersive game you played?

Now some games are easy, some are hard, and some really suck you in, so much so that you feel like the games really there and the threat is real. What games have done that, or come close?

Bioshock did this. It felt like I was really in Rapture. The later levels of TR always do this for me too, I can't pay attention to anything else.

Life is Strange.
I don't think I have ever felt this connected to the characters in a video game ever. They were so well written.

I always had a clear idea of what games must do in order to be really immersive for me, and indeed as soon as any of these points isn't checked I usually don't feel particularly sucked in, even though I might still enjoy the game immensely:

1) Provide a sufficiently interactive world
2) Design your levels in a way that will allow me to get lost and then find my way back on track (so no getting lost because your level design is actually poor, mind)
3) Choose the first person perspective, preferably, and hit the sweet spot with clunkiness when it comes to controls - they shouldn't be too clunky, to the point of them being uncomfortable and frustrating, but they shouldn't be too light and easy either - I need to feel like I'm controlling an actual character. This ties into proper physics and kinaesthetics of it all as well.
4) When it comes to large open worlds, give me other means of a quick transport other than a fast-travel. Fast travel is one those things which just always kills immersion instantly for me.
5) Don't be too cinematic.
6) Coat it all in a sufficiently believable manner and impeccable atmosphere. Anything that reaches beyond my suspension of disbelief will very much tear me right out of the illusion (this can be anything from a poorly written character/dialogue to a rather extreme deus ex machina)

The only games that have met all of these criteria on a satisfying level would be Arx Fatalis, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, to a lesser extent the Penumbra series, some of the classic Tomb Raiders, System Shock 2, Condemned: Criminal Origins, and Legend of Grimrock 2.

A 3rd person game that came quite close to fully immersing me in its world was The Witcher 1, mostly all thanks to its one-of-a-kind atmosphere. However, as much as I love that game, it's a very chatty RPG with a voiced protagonist, and that alone prevents full immersion for me across the board.

System Shock 2 had me completely locked in from start to finish.

Life is Strange and Until Dawn, the most emotional games I've ever played

Shame I can never play them again

The ones that come to mind would be The Last of Us and the Uncharted series

Classic Tomb Raider as well.

OH! And Silent Hill 1-4!
