Default Video Driver

I have been trying to play Dungeon Siege II on my laptop for the longest time. The backstory is that I managed to play through it once before, but since then I've had to reboot my computer and suddenly my presario V2000 is unable to enumerate any directdraw devices. Naturally i tried installing a verison of directx to remedy to situation. Unfortunately that hasn't done ****. I've basically open the arch of the covenent and searched every pixel of my computer for answers thanks to online help and I still haven't figured out whats wrong. I tried installing drivers but each time I do a dxdiag it says I'm using a generic videro driver and through another search it said my video driver is null. All my other drivers are functioning. I don't know what is going on and I'd appreciate it if someone would take the time and help me
I know a little about computers but I'm out of my league here. I'm willing to bet the reboot of my computer has alot to do with it but shouldn't there just be some download that fixes everything? And i've been to microsoft a million times for help. That did nothing.
I use windows XP, compaq presario V2000 2003, HP series stuff.

Do you by any chance mean that you had to reinstall Windows?

^ That's not the REBOOT, that's REINSTALLATION. That's why it irks me top most when people mix both terms.

Do you have Administrator rights for the account you're using to log into your Windows now? Because if you do and install the package I've advised you to, you must have the video driver installed properly.

I wasn't aware there was a difference sorry
But yes I have administrator rights and all that jazz. I had a friend of mine whose a computer whiz take a look and he told me that my system is too old to accept the video driver software. Is that possible?

Don't let that... guy touch your laptop ever again!!! He's obviously too smart to accept the PC maintenance duty

Post here the serial number of your laptop or service tag for me to be able to negotiate HP support on your behalf
Download and install Everest trial, run it, generate the hardware report and send it to esconder[at]mail.ru
