Part 8:

"Hope I don't have to do that too many times."
"Hope it's always as straightforward as grapple, run, jump." Oh how naive... ;P |

Assuming you have Manual Grab off, it's Circle to drop down to a ledge

TBH depends how fast you get used to it (and I don't know how the controls are on PS2). You're going to encounter it in the next part (or after that, depending how fast you clear the rooms).

Part 10:
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50e-CKUZm0k I hate boulders. I'm coping with it so far but I haven't even finished St Francis Folly yet; this level is taking a lot of parts. |

Definitely most curious about how you do in the last room. ^^
As for Legend vs Anniversary I think TRL had more environmental and/or physics puzzles which were, well, I guess new for TR (maybe even exclusive to TRL?) - like the rock in Ghana blocking a waterwheel is something that makes perfect sense but felt so obscure and new to TR at the time. Then of course was the bike gimmick and open battle arenas in which you didn't have anything to do (except shooting/running through them). TRA is definitely more streamlined in that aspect (with a return of key/lever puzzles in which the objective is more obvious from the start). I'm sure being a throwback to TR1 makes the game a little less overwhelming as well (or more frustrating, depending on which kind of Classic fan you are ) but even more than that - TR1's level design in itself is a thing of beauty (IMHO) so, regardless of the results, Crystal had a good starting point. |

To answer some of your queries from recent parts:
You can indeed outrun the Atlas boulder by using the side ledges to escape it's path, but it's obviously not the intended way. The same goes for the opening which leads to the key in the Poseidon Room - you can grab it with a well timed jump, totally ignoring the raft and the water level manipulation. |
