I would prefer if Camilla reprised the role for the third game for the sake of continuity at least. She IS reboot Lara to me. I can't comment on her accent, but overall I don't have any complaints, other than her sounding out of breath frequently, but personally I put the blame on decisions made by Crystal for that, not on Camilla herself.

I'm not into Camilla much personally when it comes to Lara's voice. I know it's been said but her time in America has affected her accent and it shows. I also find her voice a little weak sounding but I would rather she returned as Lara, with a more pure English accent, more power and a little depth behind her voice. Lara has grown and changed and her voice can reflect that! If those changes were made I'd probably enjoy her as VA much more.

I remember back in 2016 when Camilla was asked what she thinks about Alicia Vikander being Lara Croft in the new TR movie, she said q: “I feel like with any Lara Croft, someone is always taking over that role,” Luddington said. “Of course I would’ve loved to do the live-action movie version of it, but she’s Alicia and she’s amazing. So I’m excited to see her interpretation too of the game. I still feel very present within the gaming world, so it doesn’t feel like someone has taken the role from me. I’m excited to see somebody else to step into the boots and what they do for the role. There will always be new Laras.”

Swear we get this thread every few months.

Anyway, for the 412th time, I would rather Camilla stay far away from the role of Lara Croft, however for the sake of consistency she should stay on to finish the trilogy.

If they do decide to get rid of Camilla in the future, hopefully they'll hire some new writers for the dialogue, cannot stand Lara using American phrases.

I definitely think it's time for a change. Camilla has never been right for Lara coming across too over dramatic and Americanised. The sooner we get somebody else would be a good thing.

I want Camilla to remain the voice Lara Croft as long as she lives for 2 reasons:
1 I like her being Lara voice.
2 I do not want Camilla haters to be happy.

That's on CD not the writers, though. She used actual British phrases on the comics written by Rhianna Pratchett, where she had more creative freedom. Unless they lose their overreliance in focus tests, which probably tell them stuff like "we couldn't understand Lara unless she is speaking like an American", it won't be happening.

Anyway, I don't mind Camilla, and think most problems with her Lara come from the directing she is receiving and not from her actual acting skills. Keep her until the trilogy ends, and if they maintain her for the next batch of games I won't mind.

With EM helming the next game's development, do you think the writing process would be different? I don't blame the reboots' story problems on Rhianna since I really enjoyed her comics that she wrote. But I can tell something is wrong with CD's writing process. The writers are obviously restricted on what they can do and they often take the safest narrative routes.

I really don't know. If they use their own creative team, perhaps it will. If the creative team comes from CD for consistency, it probably won't change. And there's also the possibility that this Americanisation comes from Square-Enix themselves. If so, there is no escape... We'll just know when the game releases I'm afraid...

When I heard her say "screwing my father" I cringed, no English person would ever use this phrase...
