Default Do you think the original idea for this game would have been better than what we got?

From OP2M UK:

Quote:
Lead artist Richard Morton reveals that the first story concept for the fith game was very different to the one that eventually got the green light. "The idea we nearly settled with was this: Lara's seemingly dead body is taken to a remote tropical island. There she is treated until she is fit again but she doesn't remember how she got there. The island's owned by an accentric billionaire who wants to hunt the ultimate prey, Lara Croft. The whole game would be set on the island with Lara's goal to escape."
I personally think that would have been awesome!

I think it would have been a brilliant idea. Lara in a huge non-linear area, unseparated by loading screens? It's a very exciting and epic concept. Still, could it have strayed too far away from the original TR formula?

I think I'm glad they dropped that idea. The flashbacks of some of her previous adventures was a pretty good idea imo and way better than this original idea.

I don't like that idea at all. I prefer the flashback levels but that's just my opinion.

It was a pretty cool idea. but it just isn't tomb raider so I'm glad they didn't keep that idea. I can't imagine being in one island a whole game.

Back then, Lara had just been through hell in the Last Revelation and to lose her memory and be on the run from some maniac who had set up devious traps and stuff on this island to fulfill a sick fantasy would have made for very interesting character development, it would also add to the reasons why Lara was ready to give up Tomb Raiding in the following game (AOD) and we could possibly have understood her new, darker attitude more and reasons for feeling bitter and confused. I think it would have really added to the character, perhaps even more so than Chronicles did. But who knows? *shrug*
