I don't think future titles need inspiration from other IPs. Originally TR did set trends for the action/adventure genre.

As much as I love that game, it's definitely not what Tomb Raider is about. Though if it had the same development time that BotW had (which won't happen), maybe a BotW-like Tomb Raider game could work.
Unless you're talking about the back-to-basics and rethinking-conventions starting points that game had, that I would agree it could be a good idea. However, my suggestion is Super Metroid: the reboot games already are hub-based, and even core was tackling the idea. Go wild with it and give us complex hubs which have to be continuously explored, each time because a new path has opened. Maybe replace power-ups and upgrades with puzzle-solving, and I think we could have a really interesting Tomb raider game. Hell, test the idea with a 2D Lara Croft game first, to see if it works, then fully translate it into a proper 3D Tomb Raider game if it does. |

I say Resident Evil. In so much as going back to what made it Tomb Raider. Much like how the remakes of Resident Evil came about. So a return to it's roots.

In all seriousness, I can’t think of much outside of the classics, LAU, and the LC games. I do think Breath of the Wild is one TR could draw inspiration from. It gives me TR vibes sometimes. |

Nothing. All you people will do is complain and say TR copied another IP like everyone said with the Uncharted Franchise. TR is literally trapped because no matter what it tries, everyone complains.

BOTW? Perhaps. There’s a lot that can be inspired there. As in free climbing. Maybe a weather system? I always wanted TR to have a changing day/night cycle. Heck they did it in endurance.
