Yes, and not only that. I flat-out skipped the whole Cairo section on my first playthroughs, just because I wanted to see what the game was like after that yet couldn't be bothered to complete these levels at all. A shameful episode of my TR career in hindsight
I still use a walkthrough in specific points, for example Menkaure's pyramid or the last scale puzzle right before the final boss. |

If you mean I couldn't finish the game without a walkthrough then yes. I did beat SOME of the game without a walkthrough. Around Cleopatra's Palaces is when I started needing a walkthrough.

Well The first level when I started to need a walkthrough the very first time I played was Desert Railroad since I couldn't for the life of me how to get in that car with the crowbar.

Not for any mandatory obstacle , which I'm very proud of but regarding the secrets , and since TR4 doesn't really tell the player the number of secrets in each level , I used to explore every inch of the level , try everything and look everywhere and the result (on my first playthrough) was that I've found like , 44 secret out of the overall 71 secrets . When I got older and got used to the internet , I had to look at Stella's walkthrough to discover the remaining ones and god , how tricky , well-hidden and ****ing difficult they were to find , but then , they're secrets for a reason , no ?

Currently playing through the game for the first time and I'm only just finished the Karnak levels. I had to use a walk through for the first visit to Sacred Lake because I didn't realise Lara could open doors underwater.

No, I didn't use a walkthrough. I got stuck instead.... I remember things like...
Getting lost in the Coastal Ruins not knowing where to go - which wasn't helped by the loading screens between different areas. And - wondering why I was back at the Hypostyle Hall again and wandering around the Dead City getting lost too. And searching for more beetles to pull off walls......also comes to mind. TR4 was great on first playthrough - so rich in detail and complexity. To this day, I don't think I've collected all the secrets in TR4. |
