I personally think they just put her in shorts because the kind Lara uses in TR1 were really fashionable at the time it released, and besides the first 2 levels of Peru she sent the entire game in very hot locations.
I have seen an interview when they said they put her in shorts due to technical limitation.

That doesn't make any sense If that was the case they wouldn't able to make the gym outfit or any pants in the sequels. I think the person who got interviewed was probably misinformed.

However there are people who think shorts are unrealistic/impractical etc. because her legs MUST get scratched or bruised or something, according to real life rules so they don't want to see shorts.

I'm proposing they need to see them more so that they get used to them and eventually shorts will stop bothering them, in fiction that is.
Ohh right I see, makes much more sense lol

Yeah I have no problem with Lara wearing shorts because I consider some of her stumbles much more immersion breaking than shorts could ever hope to be.

While I never heard it was for technical imitations, I remember that apparently according to some leaked betas, the Gym outfit was actually a late-addition and Lara for most of the development wore the classic outfit during Croft Manor.

It would take a lot more than that to break my immersion.

Personally I would want them to bring Lara's big breasts back.
#Stop hating on big breasts.

Trying real hard not to rant about Lara's character in the reboot.

Yeah I heard that too. I don't doubt it, since there were like 6 people working on the game. They probably had much more stuff to do, and didn't consider any additional outfits a priority. TR1 is a huge game, and anyone who has ever used TRLE knows it takes a lot of time to build a game that size (even though they are obviously not the exact same editors).

I honestly just don't care what they do about Lara's appearance. Like seriously :/ I will never understand why it MATTERS so much to people. If we get shorts, braids and duals, then that's cool. If we don't, that's fine with me too. These are all superficial things that neither make, nor break a game and it's crazy just how much some people value these things.

The title was aggressive and explicit. The response isn't shocking in my opinion.

Well, that's certainly another thing people can benefit from. Many people similarly think her big breasts were out of place, they would "prevent" her from doing all the acrobatics and such, according to real life rules of course.

But suspension of disbelief can help us right there once again. It just needs some getting used to, for some people.

Same here, I don't understand what so important about the appearance? It not gonna change or affect the gameplay.

Appearances usually don't affect the gameplay, unless obstructing view or something. However they can affect the overall enjoyment.

Some like fan service so attractive appearances can positively affect it.

And some lack some suspension of disbelief skills so real life rules can conflict with the appearances and affect their enjoyment negatively by breaking their immersion.

Yeah I've seriously seen people who seem to think Classic TR was softcore porn or something, Like Anita for the most obvious example.
