Maybe we could create a database of The classics? I could help extracting maps, textures and wads.

Back in the day when I hunted for objects for my levels I did revisions of WADs from TR1-3 and TR5, because all objects in them were misnamed when opened in WadMerger. I would go object by object and put them in correct slots, then I would just save a reorganized WAD with doors, traps, switches, keys, levers, etc. and statics, animatings and shatters.

Also, textures opened up straight from compiled levels are scrambled, so it was always nice to rearrange them properly, since the original texture sets released where all tiles are properly arranged were only released for some of the levels, they weren't for most.

On TRSearch and Laraslevelbase stuff from the original levels is also rather scrambled around.

So a properly organized database could be a good idea.

The Trajan's Markets prj I found in the TRC Room editor helped greatly with reorganizing that level's textures. I have no idea if any use was ever made of it though: we've long since passed the point where we can't recreate it in TRNG as the Roman Head has existed for a while and I'm assuming the shattering window after you defeat the statue can be replicated too.

Remaking the levels is another thing, were all bosses ported from TR1-3 and TR5 in TRNG? I'd love to play even a 1:1 port, I was thinking of porting Venice 1:1 myself...

While revising WADs for objects is still good, I guess textures might not be as useful anymore, since most people use high res ones. Unless they were to be used for texture remaking, but once someone is keen on remaking textures they might as well lift them from the levels themselves...
