Well, it depends. What do you have in mind? If something unrealistic happens suck as the floating platforms in underworld then there needs to be some sort of explanation.

I don't think it's about realism, but more about having an explanation for things.

Since Lara Croft is characterized as a normal human being, I doubt they would allow her to double jump.

If there is no explanation then no. The only thing that would be hampering gameplay in that case would be your inability to provide an explanation. Tomb raider is grounded in the human world, things shouldn't happen without an explanation. It never has, and hopefully never will.

I read that as "should realism hamster gameplay"
But no. No it should not. Obviously they've kind of ignored realism, what with Lara not dying from being impaled. |

Or perhaps(lets use TRL as an example): When Lara retrieved Excalibur, i think she could have been able to do double jumps. Jumping into the air and blasting at the ground to go higher like rutland. That's a believable explanation i won't mind.

Well that would look like a stupid ancient pogo-stick. :/
What about bouncing on ...those things...fabric roof thingies? It's not necessarily unreal, just an exageration. |
