Considering they're one of, if not the, world's leading operating systems and software developers I'm not surprised they're making money hand over fist. They could probably discontinue everything but their computer centric stuff and still see enormous profits. Good for them.

I'm always weary of a new windows release. Mainly cause it takes a while for new OS to hit their stride with regards to things like minor music editing programs etc and especially games being brought up to scratch. Windows 8 was a bit of a wet lettuce. But then so was Vista and look at how huge 7 has been! I have no doubt 10 will repeat the pattern somehow but i'll be a couple of years before i take the leap I think.

The Windows 10 Preview Version already feels like a release version and so far I haven't experienced compatibility issues aside from a few drivers which wouldn't run on any 64 bit OS anyway (my laptop is 6 years old). Most of the newer programs think that it's Windows 8.1. Even the original disc version of TR II runs perfect without any patches or compatibility mode.

Of particular note is that Xbox sales doubled from the first quarter to the second. If MS has the kind of holiday season they expect to have they will be doing just fine. Sony has certainly sold more systems but MS is much more profitable. That's good management, even despite the earlier faux pas with the xbox one launch.
