Should be possible to make it interactive.
But I wonder which key should be used in that case, since Ctrl is already pressed when grabbing something.Hmmm... yes, could be possible. The player has to let go of Ctrl when Lara is trying to hold on, and pressing it again will make her restore her grab.


The drawback of having it play 1 out of 10 times is that you need 10 extra animations one after the other in the LARA object.
I wish there were a "FAN_PLAY_CHANCE" or something you could add to the Animation= script. And then in the extra field use a value between 0 and 100.
1 out of 10 times would then be value 10. Just like the CH value we can add to sounds in the sounds.txt.
Would be perfect for moves like grab fail. Or looking around, or doing something else in a random order, when standing still.

ENV_TRIGGERGROUP is a way.
Put the Random Condition into that Triggergroup and you have a certain chance to play an animation

I'm not really sure about making it in LAU way... It can be possible of course, by temporarily disabling the action button. I will think of that.

And yes, FreakRaider already explained me how this can be achieved I will try that soon - hopefully it'll be better than the FAN_RANDOM

I really like the animation and the fact that it happens randomly.

If you want to make it interactive though, may I suggest that if Lara is slipping down the ledge you have to press up to make her restore her grasp? Since Ctrl is already engaged, it comes natural to me to press up if she's falling down. Usually you press up once to vault up, if she's slipping you have to press it twice. It makes sense IMHO.

Don't we usually hold Up when grabbing a ledge tho?

Maybe having to press right arrow, because it is her right arm that's not grabbing the edge, is a better solution

Or the SHIFT key. It's right above Ctrl to be easily tapped, has no function when just hanging, and is already the 'Caution' key.

Edit: Furthermore, you could make it there is no chance of it triggering if shift is already held when grabbing.

No, I don't... I usually jump (Alt+up) release every key and press&hold Ctrl only. Well, I do hold up when I know that I need to vault up right away...



Pressing right might be a nice solution, but could get repetitive after a while... Unless SirDanielPonces creates a specular animation that needs to press left.
