It depends. If you can get past the horrendous controls, and are open minded about unfinished stuff, go for it.
Though if you're like me and can't stand bad controls in games, don't bother. Just watch an LP instead. I know some people are gonna crucify me alive for daring to criticise AOD's controls, but, tough. Sue me. |

^Eh, I'd say almost anyone who can play the classics will be able to get used to AoD's PC controls (have never played the PS2 version so I can't comment on that).

Great one , but when the location itself is boring (which is subjective as it varies based on different tastes and preferences) then not even the most genius art direction would be able to help .
To answer the thread's question , My neutral answer : Yes , go for it and experience it for yourself , do not really rely on other people's opinions whether they were hating on or praising the game especially when it's been said already that many fan patches already exist and people say it fixed many of the game's technical issues , Go for it and play it , and you're surely going to end up on one side of the two sides of the fence , as there's no middle grounds with this game , you either LOVE it or HATE it . Now to my personal answer : No , it's not worth playing . I know I've never really replayed it more than maybe twice throughout the many years of me playing Tomb Raider whereas the other games in the series I replayed to death . I just enjoy the story , Lara's Character and the music (all of which I still have on my phone , the all cutscenes video and the full ost of the game , for me to enjoy them without forcing myself to actually play the game) I believe there are a few good things scattered around in the game too , a good puzzle here , well-designed trap there etc , but overall and putting the elements I said I enjoy about the games aside , it's a horrible hot , and boring mess . |

AOD doesn't have tank controls . If anything , it has tank animations . Lara is heavy , slowass and stripped off any agility or smoothness that it grinds my gears . But then Lara's animations are heaven compared to Kurtis's , the moment I jumped to that ledge at the beginning of the Sanitarium and saw him swing on it for like 2 minutes before the game finally "allowed" me (him) to pull up , I knew I'm in for an even more horrible time .
