When you're in your wardrobe, before you select any item of clothing, it'll say press square (or whatever) to modify your clothes. You can only do this for shirts, and trousers. You can also open and close your shirt.

I'm not trying to argue that one game is better than the other, but at the end of the day we all have limited play time. I can already tell you that in one hour of Odyssey/SpiderMan I would have covered and done thrice the amount of content I can do in RDR2... Because of the pacing. Because of everything.

You have to keep in mind that in the end you're going to spend dozens of hours in that world. Would you want to have half of it spent on looking at automatic animations after three button prompts or about how much stuff you did? Because while Odyssey and many other games are a bit more "automatic", at least it feels responsive and you feel more in control of your time and what you do.

Also: You might be unable to "jump" in Odyssey but at least you can climb. Can't say the same for RDR2. Enjoy your long detours because your character refused to climb a small cliff and radgolled to the very bottom while you tried

But whatever float your boat.
Pacing is important, so it all depends on what you enjoy I suppose. RDD2 is a bit slow at times. However, most of the time I enjoy it because it feels much more accurate, and there is so much detail in this game that is so enjoyable. The little things in this game is really fun, and they don't feel like a chore at all. It just feels like they've sure you can do the things you'd want to do in a game like this. I took me a moment to fully get the hang of it, but once I did and started to really get good weapons, it just takes off. Oh, and I love the dual weapons. You can choose whichever handguns you wanna combine, so it's just awesome.

There is something about AC:Odyssey's movement that I find really obnoxious. It's certainly a fun game, with plenty of things to do, and you can climb anything, but it's still all automated. It's just press upwards and R2 (in my case on PS4) and go. I don't like holding down a button and he automatically climbs, jumps or does whatever movement is necessary. I usually skip Assassin's games, and my last one was Black Flag which I also enjoyed, but it had the same obnoxious move set. Before that it was the original game, and maybe my memory fails me, but it felt like the earlier games had more polish.

I'd take RDD2's climbing and way of exploring the world over Assassins Creed any day. I am going back to AC:Odyssey and completing at after RDD2 though, and for an Assassins game, it's quite decent.

Yes, very. If you like this sort of game. I've played the first game several times, but this is still very much it's own story with different characters. This might be slightly spoilerish, but you meet some of the same characters from the first game, and that's great for those whose played the first one, but they are still established in this game, so you're not missing out. The map from the first game returns, but it's just much larger and expanded upon. I haven't reached the old part of the map yet, so I don't know what's waiting there, but I just can't wait to see the beautiful nature again. I know the old map so well, so it's such a fun experience to see it again.

I am going to wait for a possible PC launch for this one. I loved the first game (although the little side missions got repetitive) and I do prefer a slower game play pace but my playing time is restricted and this looks like an hour eater. I find it a little disturbing that some of the early reviews start with caveats about the pace of the game and worry that the developers may have gone too far in the direction of tedium. Spending time cleaning weapons and grooming horses might be a little too boringly immersive, but overall the game sounds like an impressive job.

That isn't really the problem, but the endless horse riding is most definitely tedious. Once again gamers get a raging boner over the size of map, even though it's void of hardly any activity. They could reduce the size of the map by like 40% and it'd have the same impact with the visual preseny, and make the game a whole lot more enjoyable. I want everything in a game to have purpose.

It does concern me as to how big next gen games will end up tbh... Games will just take months to complete the story instead XD

I haven't seen anything about being able to roll up your sleeves, but maybe the character rolls them up or down depending on how hot/cold it is.

And I really love the looting animations. I'm a huge sucker for those kinds of attentions to detail: where a character actually turns a door knob instead of just nudging a door open, picking up an item instead of just their hand swooping over it and it teleporting into their inventory, and lifting a body and feeling around to loot it.

The movement animations aren't loose and fast, but they have good weight. I really don't like that you can't even job while at your camp, though.

As for eating, you don't have to. It restores health and if you eat too much of certain foods, you gain weight, which gives you more health, but you are slower and have less stamina. And eating seldomly makes you skinnier, but you don't starve. It reminds me of Fable in that way.

And the personal grooming, I really like. The hair grows in-game, you get dirty and need to bathe (or go in water). You don't have to sleep but it will restore your cores (health, stamina, dead eye - which is your main health and then the reserves deplete over time and from certain variables). You get bruises, blood, scratches, etc. after fights.

The animations overall are fantastic. I looooove the ragdolls. It's like a horse abuse simulator. I was riding the horse too fast (it wasn't even that fast, maybe a medium gallop) and hit a tree and we both went flying; same with a waist-high boulder. Then I was trying to jump over a railroad track that has railing on both sides. I managed to clear the first railing, but landing too close to the second and it caused me to fling over it, with the horse falling. Another time I was trying to jump while riding the horse across this dried-up riverbed. The downward trajectory of the jump had the horse's head hit the ground Ow! A sickening smash and splatter of blood.

And climbing, going up/down slopes and ravines - he will slide, fall, roll, stumble, etc. There's a lot of detail in all that, which I really like. It really makes it seem like a hiking simulator. Just wandering in the landscape porn, there's so much verticality and things you can interact with. It's not really a platformer game, but you can vault generally anything you think you should be able to; it's just the slopes that will get you (use your horse in those cases, where possible).

One thing I reeeeeeeally wish they had: the ability to rappel. Using a rope to go down a cliff, over a bridge railing, down some building, etc. instead of having to find a short cut. That would have been very cool.

Anywho, I'm about 15 hours into the game, I guess (I played from 10:30 pm to 5 am twice O__o and didn't get bored at all. I did go online for about an hour and a half in total, but that was just me wanting to take a break for a little bit, not stop altogether - something that I have not wanted to do with any game quite a while).

The unarmed combat is a bit wonky, but I think I just haven't used it enough to get a better hang of it, but I like that it's not just a button masher with easy victories.

I haven't had any issue with the shooting being delayed. I miss the roll, but like that they included a dive dodge. I wish you could crawl prone on the ground, though, like in MGS. That would really help.

And I also disliked how empty RDR1 was, but it was at least still ****ing beautiful...there was just too little to do in it. In RDR2, there's a lot of environmental storytelling, and the fun of taking in the views and getting around is fun in itself. RDR1 was far too flat and doesn't offer the fun of wandering as much as in the new game.
I agree with most of this.

Sometimes. I've become better at remembering it. It's annoying as hell if I forget the best weapons on the horse, lol.

I really thought I would enjoy this game but I can't play for more than like an hour without either getting bored, confused, or flat out frustrated.

I just spent time hunting a bear and got it's pelt and big game meat and then I run into these guys and they start harassing me and trying to kill me so I have to defend myself and then I am wanted so suddenly I have 7 men surrounding me and I'm screwed. My new horse that I spent 150 on and the pelt with all the meat is totally gone when the game loads back. Is this by design? And what's with the failing missions all the time? It reminds of the frustration I felt with Assassin's Creed 3. I shouldn't have to replay so much of the game over and over because I had no idea I was supposed to protect someone. And honestly the controls are just awful.

I truly regret this purchase tbh. Maybe I'll get used to it eventually. I'll try again tomorrow. Lol

So i have been busy with this Game over the last few days...i literally cant think about anything but playing this game.

Its incredible what kind of depth and life they have crafted in this game.
The encounters, the whole feeling, the way people behave and so much more.
The game feels so alive, i had dozens of encounters and not one felt like a repeat.

Story is pretty good so far and especially thanks to the setting things feel so unique.
I love the Western Setting so much.

The gang feels interesting and every interaction brings up something new.

At times it feels a bit too slow and tedious, like a simulation...which is fine but the game really forces you to need time for it.
In this case i like the witcher 3 a bit more because it feels overall faster in terms of the pacing.

The controls are a bit clunky, something smoother and "faster" overall would have done wonders.
But if you try it a bit out with the sliders you get nice controls that work just fine.
Its not as bad as people make it out...a true gamer gets used to the controls and the pacing.

Yeah it takes some time to get used to, but in exchange you get one fantastic game.

I've finished the game, and I REALLY wanna talk about! Ugh, don't wanna spoil it for anyone. Who else has managed to complete it?
