Anniversary better than TR1?
Even though I think that TRA was a good game it was both shorter and mostly easier than the original so I have hard to understand how anyone can think that it was better than TR1? Some levels and some rooms was better but the game as a whole didnīt came close to the original.

I personally liked TRA more than TR1.It has better graphics, effects and some rooms where better that in the first game but, indeed, it was easier. It's true that I haven't played TR1 in years and I mostly forgot how it is to play it.Anyway, this is just my opinion and the two of them are both great games.

Even if I really loved Tomb Raider 1, I had more fun playing Anniversary.
The two games are brilliant, and Anniversary is enough different of the original to not be compared to it. |

Generally I prefer the level design and artistic direction of TR1 and the puzzles and graphics from TRA
I like how the TR1 levels are more complex. They interweave and have all sorts of side rooms and passages to explore. It's a great feeling to see something in the distance and know I have to find a way to get there, or to look back and see where I was earlier. TRA's levels were much more straight-forward with very few side-rooms and little back-tracking. The TRA levels seemed to consist of very well-done puzzle rooms connected to each other by long empty hallways. The puzzles were great in TRA, though The graphics are obviously better in TRA. I do prefer TR1's generous use of color, and I also remember TR1 having different designs on the walls, while TRA mostly had blank stone walls everywhere. In today's world obviously TR:A wins hands down, but TR1 has a certain charm. And any big fan of the first game will tell you that was missing in the remake.
There are good elements in both games. I'd still prefer to play TR1 over TR:A, but both are good games. |

The original is 1,000,000x better than Anniversary. The only thing superior in Anniversary are the graphics, which aren't all that special anyway... Plus, that's a stupid thing to base a game off of. Gameplay, challenge, and feeling are what I look for.
