Default Annotated TR2 Playthrough

Well, anyone who's been to the Tomb Raider forum recently probably knows what this is, but just for the record, I'm basically writing in-depth level reviews of all the TR levels in order.

I started with an overview post about TR2 in general, and I'm currently putting together a post on The Great Wall. I installed TRII on my PC, so I can even take my own screenshots this time.

Tomb Raider II Overview

The Great Wall

Just like I did in the TR forum, I'll edit the OP of this thread whenever I add a new level write-up. Comments welcome either here or on the posts themselves, whatever floats your speedboat.

Ooh, this is looking to be better than your first playthrough!

I really hope that you like the game more on replay, though - especially the underwater levels. There are definitely some ups and downs there for me as well, but I really enjoyed the change of pace overall (yes, I really am a depressing person who actually found the claustrophobic feel cool... ).

Or maybe I'm just extremely biased towards TR2... it's in a tie for my favorite game with TR3.

Can't wait to see the first entries!

I did play through most of TR2 again a year or so ago, and I noticed I did like the underwater levels more than the first time I played it, which was...err, thirteen years ago. I think the difficulty scared me off as a kid, so I should have an easier time being fair to them now.

Speaking of difficulty, I'm a bit worried about getting up to the last few levels; I think I chickened out and used codes to beat the game originally, and I'm pretty sure I've never actually completed Floating Islands legitimately 0__0. I hope I can handle it, otherwise that's going to be really embarrassing

Thanks guys, this is fun so far.

The Great Wall is up; now using FRAPS to take screenshots. Taking my own screens actually makes the process take longer, but hopefully it will prove worth the effort.

Ah man... I get the feeling we're going to disagree on a lot of these entries.

Well, first of all - amazing job as always. No matter how I feel about your opinion, I cannot object to how cleanly you lay everything out and how greatly you get your opinion across. You managed to bring up a lot of interesting points that even have me doubting my love for this level.

Yet... I can't get enough of The Great Wall. In my eyes, it's the best opening level of the series for a variety of reasons, the biggest of which being that it kicks us straight into action. Although that can be seen as a fault, I would MUCH rather have this than a level like Caves. Don't get me wrong, I can see where Caves is a more proper opening level since it's very calm and down-to-earth, but the amount of variety, views, and intense sequences in The Great Wall is just amazing.

By the way, I loved the "Stupid Lara Tricks" part of the entry as well.

Keep up the awesome work.
