"Soundtrack" Appreciation Thread
The soundtrack is really amazing in this game. It creates a great atmosphere for the levels and it's easily one of the best soundtracks in the series
Here's a link to the soundtrack: Last edited by TR1249; 01-02-17 at 12:12. |

The music was one of the few things I liked about this game. Strange, I don't see Amanda's Ship in the list of soundtracks. I liked that one the most:
-Make this opening tag: [You.tube] (without the dot in the middle) -Then add the video's code, it's in the link: all that comes after the = sign. So in the case of your video it's: xIB4ozOwXks - Then end with a closing tag: [/You.tube] Last edited by Nigel Cassidy; 01-02-17 at 12:00. |

I always felt "The Norse Connection" was a really underrated track. When I hear it, I feel like I'm really inside a nord underwater temple, the instruments in this track resembling the ancient sounds of this lost wonder.
I also love the cutscenes' tracks, like "Deep Sea Encounter" and "Rest In Peace" (it's a pity you can't hear the ending of the last one, because it gets cut off by the credits). Last edited by SunDormant; 01-02-17 at 15:14. |

I've never been a big fan of Underworld or its soundtrack, really. There's a few pieces I do enjoy, but the overall tone of the score just wasn't my cup of tea.
I think my disinclination to the soundtrack has more to do with the actual game than the music. Underworld is my least favorite TR...you can tell CD tried to create a more traditional TR experience (which I appreciate!) but the attempt was completely overshadowed by spastic animations, a difficult to control Lara and a terrible camera to match. However! I have a MASSIVE appreciation for the TRU soundtrack in the respect that it is the last pillar TR game to include standalone compositions. The Tomb Raider series has always been revered for its cinematic, orchestral soundtrack. I feel that legacy has completely died with the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Did that game have a soundtrack? I remember a bit of Jason Graves' new motif, and some nondescript background strings. Very disappointing. Speaking of standalone compositions, a few of the pieces I enjoyed from the Underworld soundtrack: This is my favorite piece from the game. A lot of the score has a very ominous sound, but "Puppet No Longer" is bright, upbeat and beautiful. (I'll link the rest so not to bog down the page with too many embedded videos) Pouncing Tigers: https://youtu.be/CQcLPFuCxq4 Some classically Tomb Raider danger music, in the vein of "The T-Rex" (though far less epic!). God of Thunder: https://youtu.be/N7VPcw4hZVY Also mentioned by Nigel Cassidy - I wonder if Troels Folmann had a hand in producing this one. The style is very similar to his Legend soundtrack. Classic orchestra blended with contemporary digital percussion and the use of echo. Love it |

I must say i also loved "Cornered" - "Escaping Niflheim" i absolute love this one! 2 more are "The Yeti Thrall" and "Rituals Old". The latter has a Harry Potter-ish vibe in my opinion
EDIT: If more than 1 video isn't allowed i can remove it no problem but please let me know if so. Last edited by SS Leigh; 02-02-17 at 19:55. |

Agreed. I've always been a fan of the LAU soundtracks.
I still remember when Underworld had the Thailand demo released, the video I saw had the sounds of people talking dominating the room, but I could still slightly listen to the "Coastal Thailand - Ruins" track, and it stuck with me ever since, it was that beautiful. Today I even was just randomly thinking about these two tracks: Subtle ambient music, yet very atmospheric, and memorable. (Now I want to listen to the whole soundtrack X) ) |
