To answer the question in the title of the thread I'm already sick after playing the second game...

Was already sick of it. My signature pretty much gives a clue why. It bears repeating: Tombs Optional - just about says it all...

That's so true. It seems a lot of people here are sick of these newer games and y'all can't handle it.
WAIT. Salt? Hmmmm. *JUST kidding. I'm only trying to say it's those who poke at the negative opinions who cannot handle them* *perhaps aka all of us* |

We are all salt miners in this great hole in the ground we call Tomb Raider Forums.

I mean, the games are quite good, but they just don't feel like Tomb Raider to me. Rise already was an improvement to TR2013, but it still couldn't convince me. I guess what I miss most is the strong, self-confident woman Lara once was. I fell in love with that character as a kid, and I miss her in the Reboot games. |

i know i had grew tired of classic Lara, even though I still love her. I love reboot Lara now as well, she has become a part of me and i'm excited to see how she evolves. That's why I don't think i can get tired of reboot Lara because she still has room to grow.

I prefer the LC spin offs compared to the reboot main series now TBQH.
Relic Run (and Lara Croft Go especially) felt very classic TR. The puzzles and traps were simply amazing, and the music took me back. Music in Reboot/Rise was too generic and boring. I miss the classical instruments and choir type vocals. Legend and TRA had some beautiful tracks.. Bring Troels back (or Nathan) CD please. Classic style music and a more confident, cocky Lara could go a long way IMO It might feel like a real TR game then. They were on the right tracks with Manor DLC - but most of this was nostalgia. |

The most important things to me about classic Tomb Raider are gone in the reboot trilogy (hopefully just a trilogy). Lara isn't funny. The world is far too dreary and realistic.
There's none of that delightfully ironic contrast between the cocky, lighthearted Lara and the horrendous ways she could die. Lara's deaths are more brutal than ever now, but because of the context they're in, they aren't really that shocking. The same goes for everyone else, too. How shocking was that final level in TR1 where things became twisted and demonic at the 11th hour after so much adventuring? Or even that skeleton you see in the Valley. Now, there's so much carnage built into the scenery that, again, nothing is as shocking as it could be. Finally, we don't have the underlying sexuality that was such a central aspect of these games. That aspect was so memorable and important, especially for younger teenage gamers, but seldom discussed outright (at least from what I've seen). Obviously these are all things that the Reboot series is in too deep with now to do a 180 on. That's why I'm hoping that the Lara Croft franchise takes center stage. Between Go and Relic Run, it's certainly more profitable right now. |
