Default What traits best define Lara?

I have been writing a sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raider for several months, but I don't know all of Lara's defining traits. I have only played the two new ones and the original (in progress on my laptop). Those that understand her character better than I do, can you explain her defining traits I should keep aware of? Or traits I can write into her that are useful?

Well it really kind of depends because it varies quite a lot.
She's a lot different in TR4 and TR5 than she is in TR1, 2 and 3, for example.
She is different again in TRAOD, then different again in each of the LAU games, then she's different in TR2013 and then different again in Rise.
It really depends on which game(s) you're referring to

The protagonist from TR9 and 10 has got nothing to do with Lara Croft. If you're writing a sequel to TR10 you don't need to know about her.

This. Reboot and Rise Lara has little defining traits apart from groaning, whinging and following Daddy's footsteps. She is boring.

Now the LAU and Classic Lara's - Witty, Sarcastic (at times), Clever, Acrobatic, Classy, Caring to her friends.. deadly to her enemies

In terms of Reboot!Lara, there are a few characteristics that I try to stay true to in my fics:

- She is well-meaning but can be selfish
- Intellectually brilliant
- Can be self-deceiving
- Experiences fear but always overcomes it
- Natually talented in linguistics, likely possesses an eidetic memory
- Introverted
- Profoundly loyal to a small circle of friends
- A lifetime of pain has rendered her distrustful of strangers
- Driven, almost to the point of obsession
- Can become blind to reason when she "pigeon-holes" a goal
- Athletically gifted
- Possesses surprising physical strength and endurance
- Posesses a subtle humour that only her closest friends get to witness
- Rarely takes time for herself
- Possesses a volcanic temper that she strives to control (usually successfully)
- Is very self-analytical; fears the darkness within her
- Sometimes feels she's lost touch with the "real world"
- Ambitious
- Independent almost to a fault, hates accepting help
- Struggles to come to terms with her conscience

Anyway, that's my take on her...hope it helps!

If we're talking reboot Lara, she's very empathetic and will try to do the right thing, so long as it doesn't get in the way of her goals.

She has everything to do with Lara Croft because she is Lara Croft
