This is a game idea I've had floating around in my head. And I think it's completely possible in the TRLE. I've wanted to do something ENTIRELY new with the TRLE, and while a tomb is always nice, the engine can do MUCH more as people proves time + time again. Well, here goes:
The idea of the game is, basically, Moonlighting. You know, like when people take up the task of doing as temporary job for the night, like working as a bartender, or a DJ. The basic goal of the game is to serve the local clientele/patrons/customers, in a series of mini-games. Most of the game will consist of fulfilling orders for customers (get them a dish they ordered, mix them a drink, etc.), and sometimes, of "bar labor" (clean up a spill in the restroom, restock the shelves). Lara will start off collection tips (on top of her pay) and as the game progresses, the locations become bigger and better, the tips become larger, and the tasks grow in variation. I'm thinking of timing the levels, and having everyone post their scores/time online (via screenshots) for competition. Does anyone have an feedback on the idea? It's be really helpful. ![]() Also, if you return to a level marked as "reset hub", does the level reset. I'm guessing no, since I want players to return to levels if they wanted to without everything being done already. Of course, they could play again, but where's there fun in that?

i'm sure something like that would be possible, but the gameplay, which would involve mostly the mini games, would require a lot a custom animations and scripting. or at least the way i imagine the game being set up it would...i don't know, the more i think about it, i feel like it would maybe more work that it's worth. i'd like to hear more of your ideas on how the gameplay would work within the engine. it is a very interesting idea.

Well, I know how serving drinks/food would work:
There would probably be a series of customers/orders (max 24, for puzzle items and keys) - maybe not all at one time, but a flipmap eventually to change the people. Lara combines items to fill orders (dumped in her bottomless whatever) and she runs to tables with the markers of the requested item. I could probably pull off more if I hide puzzle items under the floor. And raise them later. When Lara leaves to get more food, another family/group/person is triggered, and she goes to give them food + drinks. Other tasks would require animations, but it could be something as lazy as picking up and inventory item and using it to get the task done. I was thinking of having money mapped to the 'secrets", but calling it money instead, but I have no idea about what to spend cash on. ![]() When she plays the "give" or "do" animation, the secret count goes up, and she makes money.
