TR2 The Golden Mask All Secrets Glitch
I have been continuing my recent TR PC expansion pack playthroughs and come across a problem with The Golden Mask.
Even though I've collected all the secrets in the previous levels at the end of Kingdom I'm getting a final stats screen which shows "9 of 9" Secrets rather than 12 of 12 and consequently Nightmare In Vegas isn't unlocked. Level start saves for that are easily found and I have download and started playing it that way but it irks me I've had to do this. This problem is listed as known bug with GOG and Steam versions but I used my original TR2 Gold discs and multi-patched the installation. On my old laptop, unlike TR2, The Golden Mask had to played using its CD when prompted. The only thing I did differently this time is to use a no CD patch for The Golden Mask too. It has worked perfectly otherwise but I guess it is the cause of the problem. Question: is there another no CD patch available which doesn't have or cause this glitch or is there some other recommended technique? I know you can do it by exchanging/name changing key files from the main TR2 installation but this seems a bit crude. I had a similar sort of issue a few weeks ago with TR3: The Lost Artefact and laravision kindly pointed me at a no CD patch that fixed that problem perfectly. I am hoping there is something like it for The Golden Mask too. Does anyone here actually know the cause of this all secrets glitch? |

Here is a link to the thread which explains how to do it by switching files:
http://www.tombraiderforums.com/show...mask+perfectly If I'm not wrong, the first post in that thread also has a link to an installer by SuikazeRaider that does the same thing, perhaps that is more along the lines of what you're looking for! Best of luck! |

I do want to clarify that I tried using SuikazeRaider's installer a couple of times, and it didn't work for some reason. Best wishes that it works for you though.

Thanks for the replies and happy new year to all tombraiderforum users here.
So the answer is apparently: no there isn't a no CD or other patch that will fix the all secrets bug. That method ^ and the simpler copying in the TR2 no CD patched files and renaming them as described in this thread here:- http://www.tombraiderforums.com/show...9&postcount=16 are what I really wanted to avoid. TBH I'd put up with having to play The Golden Mask from CD rather than faffing around with downloaded audio and other files to fix the new problems caused by applying the solution to the all secrets glitch. My suspicion is that the no CD patch is actually a modified Steam or GOG TR2 Gold EXE and that's why the patch I used is glitched in exactly the same way. Pity, but if anyone else has some other ideas or has info on a no CD patch which isn't similarly glitched I still be very interested to know. Last edited by fallenangle; 01-01-17 at 13:58. |

I think there's one on my Onedrive, I defo remember uploading it. Not sure if I haven't removed it. Anyway, the link is in TR3 without crystals thread. If it's not uploaded, I will do that obce I'm home. At some point today. Moving houses, so yeah.
You'll need to copy the data folder and some dlls from the game disc. Also I'm fairly sure I have a good audio solution somewhere there, too. |

Thanks ^.
I'm going to try some other no CD solutions and see if they work but having just re-finished Nightmare In Vegas using the downloaded start game save there's no urgency to this. So if I come back to it I'll welcome the help offered. On the subject of Nightmare in Vegas: has anyone done a no scratch run? Is it actually possible? I was doing a no meds/all secrets run through the whole of The Golden Mask and I tried for no-scratch as part of this discipline but usually failed or gave up trying. With Nightmare In Vegas I spent some more time and it would be 100% perfect if it wasn't for one area I just can't clear without receiving damage (actually very minor <2%). The point in question is the shard covered beam above the entrance to the 'casino' area. There is an essential pickup on the adjacent beam but try as I have I can't jump from the shard platform without taking damage. I've tried all along the beam, using various pull up points, angled start positions and all the jump techniques I know but the moment LC jumps you get the health bar appearing indicating damage. Any known solution? Obviously this must not include use of any TR bugs although in this case I haven't found any applicable that work here either. Last edited by fallenangle; 02-01-17 at 14:15. |

With backflip Lara has smaller collision area than with forward jump.
If you need more specific just search some of the old challenge threads. |

I tried back-flips from various places and angles - no luck. You'd think the position in the corner on the left should be OK as she can be placed so her feet are seen to be clear of the nearest shard. But the moment you back-flip the health bar shows damage.
Thanks for the suggestions. |

That glitch is annoying. I remember when i was watching a streamer playing this game on twitch and he got all 12 secrets the stats still only said 9 of 9 anyway.

Yes, it is annoying but when you're playing in a way not intended ie. no CD after install I suppose you have to accept these types of issues.
It irks me that I collected all the secrets and used no meds in all the levels and the stats didn't show that. But knowing you did it is what matters. Having to use a downloaded save to be able to do Nightmare In Vegas, which should have been unlocked, is no hassle. |
