The Map of Lara's Travels
Newest: Revision 7
DA Page: http://cogwheelheart.deviantart.com/...t-r7-243426722 Direct Download Link (51MB ZIP archive, 188MB uncompressed): http://www.deviantart.com/download/2...rt-d40xh9e.zip Read the Guide. The Guide. READ IT. Changes: + Added locations for the Gameboy titles, TRU DLC and the Lara Croft spin-off; + Added state borders (no, no South Sudan for you); ~ Adjusted "Atlantis", "Rig", "Maria Doria" and "U-Boat" marker positions; ~ Changed the title to "The Travels of Lara Croft" to reflect GoL addition; ~ Switched to "revision" numbering instead of "versions"; ~ Updated the overall colour scheme and brightness levels; ~ Updated marker design; ~ Delicious uncompressed TIFF render for great justice; - Removed the screenshot borders (too fugly, may return if I figure out how to capture widescreen shots in classic TRs sans Lara's bum); - Removed the unified timeline (no longer relevant, even more so if you consider the reboot to start a separate continuity); - Removed the wind rose (temporarily); --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 0.6a http://fc28.deviantart.com/fs39/i/20...WheelHeart.jpg DA Page: http://cogwheelheart.deviantart.com/...0-6a-106873527 Direct Download Link: http://www.deviantart.com/download/1...WheelHeart.zip Changes: - new navy/gold colour scheme; - as a result, ocean floor is no longer obscured (see them slopes!); - added Underworld locations; - markers and captions were redesigned for better readability; - return of ze colour code for markers; - added the shotcard border; - added the Unified Timeline; - separate markers for locations that have shared the same dot previously; --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WIP version 0.5: http://cogwheelheart.deviantart.com/...-v0-5-96807418 Changes: - Tomb Raider related geographical and country names reappear; - added compass rose; - added grid; - created the FAQ; - Creative Commons License; --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WIP version 0.4 (preview): http://cographite.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/v04pr.jpg Progress so far: - started everything from scratch (see below), feel like a masochist; - a new map image that actually shows ocean floor (though i mostly obscure it, so w/e); - scrapped the wallpaper idea -> the map is now huge and has more space (doesn't help England though); - more space means i can add some more locations (mainly where there is a ride); - no more carnival rainbow colours for dots and captions (colourblind-friendly and all); - moved several dots (like U-Boat); - Still figuring out where or how to put country names. PS. Aww, shi-- i've spelled "Cornwall" as "Cornwell"... Darn it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WIP version 0.3: http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/map_v0-3.jpg Changed: -moved some dots to the south (U-Boat, Rig, Folly, Atlantis); -bigger font; -different map color scheme; -locations come in dark/light duotone, where the former gives more details and is usually Lara's destination point in that level set (usually where she acquires what she came for, so it's "temple of poseidon" and "cleopatra's palaces" for Alexandria, because of armor plates Lara finds there). Placeholder locations (help needed with these): -"portal temple" for TR7 Bolivia and Nepal (as those were never specified in-game or otherwise officially); -"the tomb of the queen of tiwanaku" (sounds and reads like total garbage imo); -"leigh cosmetics" for Sophia's level (the trickiest one, plus one can mention All Hallows as a separate adventure); -"furnace of the gods" (perhaps leaving it as simply "Melnikov Island" would be enough). Since trying to fit every location onto a low-res map while maintaining at least some readability results in utter chaos (though it still looks fine), i'll stick with higher resolution (perhpas it'll allow to mark that level in TLA before the "Channel Tunnel" as a separate location, though it's obviously not that far away from the Tunnel itself). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WIP version 0.2 (made the map almost b&w for sake of readability). http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...s/map_v0-2.jpg - KV62 is the tomb Lara visits in Times Exclusive. - Was there a name for ruins in Peru (TR Legend)? - Same with Ghana. - Color for AoD locations is hard to read it seems, will make it brighter. - Same with Chronicles, perhaps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- v0.1 Click to see: http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...ess/map_v0.jpg This is a very early version of Lara's travel map, hence some names may be hard to read, plus it's a bit too big. I just wanted to pinpoint the locations and name them. So far: 1. A portion of titles ended up as actual places on the world map (ie London), others - as fictional ones from the game (Temple of Xian). Should probably write both of them in next version. 2. "Zoo" is the last couple of levels from TLA. I don't know how else to name it - any ideas? I'm not sure if "madhouse" fits it. 3. Calcutta and LA are the places Lara visited in the cutscenes, with latter being just a guess (as Natla's HQ location was never specified). 4. Yeah, she probably never was to Las Vegas, but still... 5. Some nazi subs were indeed travelling through Arctic ocean, but other than that - it's unknown where the sub from TRC is. 6. Where's her mansion in the classics? Near London? 7. "Melnikov Island" comes from TGM's title screen map. 8. Seeing how Natla and her death-squad have a boat just outside the Sanctuary of the Scion i've decided that the whole temple is somewhere on the coast. 9. Both Atlantis and Rig/Maria Doria locations are debatable. Any solid versions? And yes, so far it includes only games made by CORE. I'd want to connect the dots to show how Lara actually travelled, but there's a problem of pointing to her home after each adventure or not + i'm not sure when TRC Russian levels had occured - before TR1 or after TR3. There's also a variant of using the world map from CIA site, but it has country borders.... So, comment and suggest. I'm listening. Last edited by Cog; 20-07-11 at 11:02. |

I have a thing for world maps anyway, always find them interesting, could look at them for ages finding cities.
That's really a nice idea |

Very nice!
According to official sources though, TR's Atlantis is just north of Egypt. (Plus the offshore rig is just west of Ireland ) |
