Yes, and the most heavy difference's that one is a man of peace that study ancient Egypt, while the other is clearly someone in the private service that knows about Russian submarines and terrorism.

Two persons, for me.
Though, if a remake were to be made, I'd throw out the character of Kane altogether (though he does have some interesting tidbits that could be used) and just use Jean-Yves or a completely new character that rides out the events of TLR, Chronicles, and becomes the one killed at the beginning of AoD instead of VonCroy (keeping with the France thing).

I guess techincally it's two people, one slightly altered character model. It's really stupid. Charls Kane was obviously a product of a mistake.

An off topic but interesting TR4 tip.....

While we are talking about Jean Yves, did you know that in TR4 he gives many different speeches every time you go to Coastal ruins hub and venture into other areas, then come all the way back to him and he will give you clues where to go from the coastal ruins hub

I and I bet many others never knew that as when we got to coastal ruins we did not go back very often to Jean Yves, Correct Yes?

So now you know. i did not know this for years, till I found out on this forum, DOH!

I consider them to be different people, only because I can't see Jean Yves doing the Russian infiltration stuff

I've never seen or heard about the real Jean Yves before. So I did a google search on him and here you'll see how he looks like (for those who haven't seen him):

The resemblance is unremarkable! What was Core thinking? They should've put a disclaimer at the beginning of the game that any similarities with real people are coincidental and not on purpose.

Nowadays this kind of thing is easier thanks to the parody law. Rockstar gets away with putting real life celebrities into their games and mocking them for ages! And Core didn't even mock Jean-Ives.
