So as expected mah old PC fried.
I need a codec pack, O&O defrag( if it is free), yahoo messenger 9 and a way to know why my second HDD isn't seen even tho I bought a SATA to IDE ( or was it supposed to be the other way around?) Thank you! Last edited by sandygrimm; 04-12-11 at 16:53. |

http://www.oo-software.com/en/download/index.html - not free though.
K-Lite Mega Codec pack YM 9 Need more info: What HDD exactly (brand, model)? What SATA2IDE connector? Have you connected power to it? Why not buy a PCI-card SATA controller instead? If your old PC is fried, then what do you need SATA2IDE for? Does you new PC have no SATA ports on the mobo? |

I had IDE( don't know exactly the model) in old PC HDDs and I wanna still use the ITE 250 Gb HDD, so I bought this bidirectional adapter to make connection, New PC has only SATA, I dunno maybe I didn't cross the right wires. They are a lot. As for a a PCI-card SATA controller The solution was not offered to me, so I didn't know about it.
Also how do I partition the the main HDD ( so I can have programs separate, games separate partition, I forgot and I don't want to risk the Dynamic incident thing again) Also if posssible, where Can I get Firefox 3.0.7? or around there. I don't like this 8.0 Last edited by sandygrimm; 05-12-11 at 08:24. |

So you want to connect an IDE drive to a PC which has only SATA on board - that's another story The simpliest way is to use an external IDE HDD rack connected via USB. No problems connecting + you'll have a big portable disk
As for your main HDD: partitioning will depend on its capacity. If 500Gb or less, then 100Gb - System partition, the rest - Data partition. If 750 Gb or more, then 200Gb - System, the rest - Data (as you install the majority of the programs to the System partition by default). All versions of FF - HERE |

I don't have a Rack, And I couldn't afford one, this was the cheapest solution, I prefer it internally anyway. Any Solution to this? :S
It's a 500 Gb, I was asking .. how exactly to partition from Manager. If the data part needs any specific settings or as default? Thank you! |

Can you post a photo of your SATA2IDE adapter again then?
Is your old HDD not recognized even in BIOS? What mode SATA controller is in? As for the new HDD: Boot from Windows installation disc, make 2 primary partitions: 1 - 100Gb, 2 - the rest of the place (~400Gb). Install OS to the System 100Gb partition (format as NTFS in process). Then when OS is fully installed, format the Data 400Gb partition as NTFS from inside the OS. |
