Is it possible? Windows XP and Windows 7 on 1 PC?
Hey
I currently have Windows 7, but I was wondering ... Is it safe & totally risk-free, as well as doable & useful, to install Windows XP next to Windows 7? I wouldn't know how to do this ... I suppose one would have to split your hard drive in 2 parts (and even that I wouldn't know how to do, lol), but maybe you're telling me that I - being one of the oldest, most loyal Tomb Raider-fans in the world who still LOVES to play the original trilogy/quadrology (much more so than the latest ones, actually) - maybe you're telling me that I ought to get Windows XP, because the old Tomb Raider-games work better over there, than on Windows 7. If ALL Tomb Raider-games work flawlessly on Windows 7, this new thread wins the Academy Award for 'Most Pointless Thread éver conceived', hahahah! Anyways, many thanks in advance ... Bye for now |

Yes, you may install Windows XP and Windows 7 side by side, but in that case you will need to:

Thank you very much.
But the réal question is actually: Can I play the old Tomb Raider-games with Windows 7 or not, please? In case of yes, no need to go back to Windows XP, I think. thanks Bye for now |

One thing I didn't ask is whether the WIn7 Pro XP mode supports use of WinXP's own Compatibility mode? |

The XP mode is simply Windows XP virtual machine with virtual hardware running under Windows 7

^ Thus it supports everything that regular XP machine supports with corrections due to VM capabilities.
I still prefer VMware Vitrual Workstation 8 as it has now hardware video and sound acceleration support... or dual boot |

I also prefer VMWare workstation (using it at workplace) and I'm using VMWare Player at home (player is free)
