Jeep and missing sounds bug?
Hey there!
I'm working in a new project so I'm facing two bugs right now (that I don't know how to solve...) First, I placed a jeep in the level, and when Lara reaches a room nearby (and also in the same room where the jeep is), the letter D keeps appearing and disappearing in the lower right screen. The second bug is... sometimes the jump switch sound plays, sometimes not. The same happens with the dog death sound. Any help here? Thank you so much. |

I have a simple bug-fix for that in my plugin. Hardcoded, so it should be solved simply right away if you install it.

WadMerger does not correctly copy sound effect associations when it copies objects over to the target WAD and if you use the Sound Manager module in WM it is very likely to mess up the sounds of your WAD. Sadly, there does not seem to be a comprehensive guide on fixing missing sounds and if you use custom WADs it gets even more complicated. The most basic solution is editing sounds.txt and use it for rebuilding SAM+SFX files of your WAD with pcwadsfx - I believe this is covered by the official TRLE manual. More automated solution would be using Sapper's SoundEditor tool, which supposedly can scan through your WAD and check which objects call for which sounds and correct the WAD's SFX+SAM files. Regarding the sounds, have you checked the sounds.txt for your level? For SWCH_01 and DOG_DEATH, the entry in the CH (chance) column should be blank. Any other value, and the sounds in question play only x times out of 100.
EDIT: Yes, Wadmerger is evil (especially) when it comes to sounds (just have a look at Joey79100’s signature). Sapper’s Sound Editor can be downloaded from here: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/show...73&postcount=7 Last edited by Mulf; 13-01-18 at 15:37. |
