TR1 for sure. Simple and fairly easy to get by. I'd also be watching her if I were you to see how she reacts to some of the more memorable parts of the game! Like the T-Rex or the mummy guard in Qualopec. Centaur statues. Tons of things to take her by surprise and I'd love to see how she takes on these scenes in the game

Legend ought to be a good start because it's easy - play mechanics and story.

But if you do, I think it'll be hard then to introduce the older games - because it is hard going back to play so obviously dated graphics after playing something more updated, and because it's harder to learn the controls.

Which is a shame because if someone can endeavour to learn the controls, the older games are a lot more absorbing gameplay wise than Legend and Underworld.

I'd start her with TR1.... if she likes it she carries on, if not. Legend is your next step.

If she starts on Legend and won't play the classics then let her watch the cinematics, they are amazing and rich enough to be standalone sometimes
That and there's always History and Geo of TR episodes coming

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll let you guys know how she takes on the PS1 original and eventually moves up to Legend.

Because she is still quite young, I would definitely say try the classics first, mainly because young minds are quite impressionable and the lack of graphics and modern sophistication can be made up for in imagination. If she was a little older, and had played many modern games, I would suggest Legend.

But yeh, TR1 would be a good place to start.

I started with TRIII back in the day, but mainly because it was on sale . I remember shooting monkeys in the jungles was a bit scary for me but then my dad said I should check out Lara's mansion and that was a really good start

Lara in a Box is the true tomb raider experience, clearly she should play that first.
