When I watched videos I see that you have to fill this area (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gexqzEhBPNw 4:18 - 4:25) with water to finish this level, but as much as I can remember, when I played this game 6 years ago I just walked to the edge of the that pit and did the swan dive down directly to the front corner and Lara felt down and landed without dieing or losing any health. It is a little bit tricky, because you need to find the exact possisiona and then dive down. Can someone check is it working, because I not have TR2 now. Video would be nice too.
Sorry if it is known already. |

Never heard of this shortcut! But it sounds really hard to reproduce. So if you could answer a few questions:
1. What front corner, to the left or the right? 2. How did you get to a corner, since Lara does not curve while diving? 3. Do you recall her scraping along a wall or the corner? 4. Did you attempt to enter the tunnel and go on? What happened? 5. What platform? PC, PS, or other? Last edited by rr_carroll; 20-11-07 at 13:31. |

![]() You have to make swandive, and lara while landing have to make sommersaulth exactly in the corner or a little bit fefore it (cannot remember exactly) as shown in the picture. You have to dive on the small plate in the middle. |

Ah! I thought of "corner" as where 2 WALLS meet, thanks for the clear explanation.
A couple of months ago, a did a lot of trying to make this shortcut work. I used the position editor to put her close to the floor, and I was able to end the level from there. This would save several MINUTES in a speedrun, I hope I can make it work. I use the PC, too. Last edited by rr_carroll; 20-11-07 at 20:10. |

I should have said in the last post that I tried to make A shortcut work here, not your shortcut.
I've tried a few things and here's what I've noticed so far. The jump-off area. ![]() The view down. ![]() A closeup of the landing area (I got there w/position editor). ![]() Views of the jumping wall. ![]() ![]() Shots of a running jump from the edge: ![]() Lara hits the far wall. ![]() Lara's health bar is all black as she crouches from the landing. ![]() As the landing animation ends, the death animation begins. ![]() The Tomb Raider entombed. ![]() Here's a video of three dive attempts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxI91TTXa8o I've tried mostly running dives from various points at the edge, and a few back from the edge, trying to land at the peak of the landing mound, or one square in front of it. When I also roll while diving I don't see any difference. Perhaps I should wait to roll until Lara hits the ceiling. I also tried rolling just as she lands, or healing just as she lands. Nothing so far. From you remarks, Aurimas, most likely I need to try more takeoff points and more landing points. Any suggestions? Should I be trying to hit along one of those small vertical surfaces or even closer to where the wall & the ground meet? Edit: I JUST DID IT!!!! She lands at FULL HEALTH, just like you said! Yes, the trick is to land closer to where the wall meets the ground. I'll be back in a few after I refine it. BTW, I already knew that you can enter the lower tunnel, find a vertical wall of water (!), enter it and complete the level normally. GREAT SHORTCUT! Last edited by rr_carroll; 21-11-07 at 21:48. OK! Here's a "cookbook" method. Maybe faster ways exist. In a speedrun, saves about 2 minutes (MMAN's existing record is 6:34).
1. Face forward at the left end of edge. ![]() 2. Sidestep right once. Align the division between the two metal plates with Lara's centerline. ![]() 3. Step back once. Sidestep right. Sidestep left. ![]() Hop back. ![]() Run forward, add Jump then quickly Walk. You may release all keys after the takeoff. Lara swan dives, reaches the wall in full extended down position, and suddenly appears standing at the wall, with no damage. ![]() No use of Roll or Action is necessary. The critical part is the distance from the wall, and secondarily landing a bit right of the peak. Then go on. Stand here to jump and catch the edge of the opening. ![]() Lara meets a wall of water! Note the bubbles from a flare that she's thrown in. ![]() She enters the wall. ![]() The end is in sight! ![]() Many thanks, Aurimas! What brought this up, BTW, since you can't play at the moment? And just BTW, this is a new bug! Well, new to me. I've always wanted a way to bug DOWN a great height, as well as up. It might require sloping ground at a vertical wall, which could limit it's use. Is it only TR2? A lot of juicy checking to do!
