The US Open begins tomorrow at Flushing Meadows, NYC. It figures that every year right when I go back to school, the US Open starts.
I just watched Jen Capriati win in a pre-US Open tournament today, so I think that more than ever this will be Jen's year to win. Especially since Serena had to pull out due to some sort of surgery. I would love to see Venus win a Grand Slam again, and build up her confidence. But you know that if she wins there, she'll be thinking that it was only because Serena wasn't there. The Men's side is still too hard to tell who's going to win. It's a mad grab each year for every tournament. |

It's the other way around now. Venus withdrew from the US Open just a few days ago due to a strained stomach muscle and Serena is playing to defend her title.
On a sad note, Pete Sampras officially announces his retirement tomorrow. |
