I'm quite proud of the result ^^

Why? It's where they belong, isn't it...

Blender is just different, but in fact it's the most straight-forward interface I know. No other 3D application is so flexible and customizable and efficiency-driven.
I seriously believe Blender is in many ways much better and more powerful than 3ds max for instance .

Edit: A few years ago I was pretty impressed with the concept of Modo. It had its problems back then. But maybe since then they fixed those issues and pushed the program forward.

of course i am not planning to give up Blender. but as i'm currently only a beginner using this software, i still have some difficulties. so understanding Blender will take some time and a lot of practice. and as you've said, that Blender is very fexible and customizable, this may also lead to a lot of pitfalls in my case.

Currently i'm trying to model a better sea surface using Blender. i've started with a textured plane click here and now trying to add some bumpiness to it ( using modifiers )

But having a look at other applications is always a good thing. i've always followed that approach when using graphic software. when i started, i've mainly used Paint Shop Pro ( which i don't use any more ), but these days i prefer Photoshop Elements, Gimp and Paint.net.

In other news, here's an environment I'm working on. It' very much a WIP and I'm really just making the design up as I go along, but please, if you have any requests at all for something you'd like to see in an enviro, TELL ME WHAT IT IS. You can pm me if you like, but it's probably easier to post it publicly. If it isn't too complicated, I'll include it - and that's a promise.
so your saying that you are making environments for XNA lara? if so THAT'S awesome and i need your help!
if not then oh well

Blender freaked me out when I first opened it too. The interface is unlike anything I've used before. It's quite cool and clever when you get to know it a bit more though. How did you go about learning how to use it?
I went through a bunch of this, which I found to be a great resource: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro
