Hey there,
I was just wondering the best program to rip music off my cd's with. At the moment im using Windows Media player (11?) at 192kbps. [Note - They are all genuine cd's Is it better if I rip them at the 320kbps setting? I use the music for listening to on my computer and on my Samsung S5. Also ,would there be a noticeable quiality drop if I ripped the music to my MP3 player with Samsung Media Studio at the 128kbps setting? I would prefer to save space. Another thing, When I add the ID3 tags , say if there a song with more then one artist, How do i do that correctly? say Womaniser -Britney Spears Ft. Lil Kim or Womaniser - Britney spears ft Lil Kim Womaniser - Britney Spears ft. Lil Kim Thats my dillemma

The best solution is CDEx and it's free BTW.
Remember not to infringe copyright law using it! About another question: Womaniser - Britney Spears feat Lil Kim. IMO this way

The best way would be to put it like so:
Song Name - Artist 1 (feat. Artist 2 & Artist 3) At least that's how I would do it.

doesnt Windows Media Player automatically download the tags when you insert the CD? It does here... and that info gets carried over when "ripping" them to WMA or Mp3. So I say just stick with whatever information is provided by CDDB tags.
if it doesn't do automatically: go to tools -> options -> library tab -> select proper options

WMP is fine as a ripper, I don't see why you would need/want to download a separate program for it.
About naming the songs: personally I always copy the exact way it has been put in the booklet or at the back of the CD. Some say "featuring", others "ft.", "feat.", "versus", "with"... I just copy the original.

I'm thinking out loud again
![]() I thought 128kb/s was CD quality, and going higher than that was a "waste of time" ?? Right or wrong ? Spike, Alex ??

However... "(...) a growing number of young folks actually prefer the sound of MP3s to other, much higher "quality" systems. The theory is that they're so used to hearing the sound associated with MP3s, they are more comfortable with it and prefer it. In fact, the article notes, some believe the same is true of those who believe that vinyl's sound quality is so much greater than other formats: much of it is actually because they're so used to the sound quality associated with vinyl." (Source) Maybe wadej88 by now prefers 192kbps

Technically it is as you won't spot much difference between 128 and e.g. 192, unless you're a musician. You can though notice difference between 128 and 374.
As for the format better use OGG than MP3

Somewhere I read that 192 kbps is the best quality and that 320 kbps isn't that much better to justify its bigger size... This article I remember said that 320 is best for classical music and not much else. But I supose the only way to get the actual CD quality is to rip to WAV no?
Anyways I always rip music at 192 with WMP or iTunes and they're both pretty good so I don't see the need to try other programs.
