On the PS3, go to settings and video settings. Play about with them is the best i can say.

but it sounds like the TV is the problem or the HDMI cables. I have a bit of knowhow with them because i sell them, but anyhoo. What make of TV and HDMI are you using?

1. What is the brand name and model number of the TV?

2. Is the HDMI cable native to TV/PS3?

3. Try the following: when turning on PS3 press and hold power button for 5 seconds - it must initiate auto output detection and configuration.

2. Was it bought with the TV, with PS3 or separately?

3. Try to change the HDMI cable.

I seem to recall having similar problems before. (Even inverted colours lol, but I guess that's due to overheating). Simply unglugging the HDMI cable and reinserting it worked for me. But your problem sounds more like a problem with the cable itself.
