IMO this article is cowpoo, sorry.
Closer integration doesn't necessarily mean extinction of one or another device. Seems like the guy who wrote that is far from technology actually. CPU market is stagnant? Huh?!! Gonna bet? It will hardly be stagnant even when aperture limit is reached - there is always a big field for "horizontal" growth possibility. All integration technologies are supposed to help utilize the whole computing power of the set in intensive tasks regardless of the nature of this task - graphical, mathematical, etc, not to make one device from two, increase heat and decrease performance.
