Arrow Simon Curtis

He's a new artist, and is currently not signed to a record label. His music is pop/dance. You guys should defintiely check him out, his album is actually free on his official website. Thanks to Emeraldfields for showing me him, he's extremely good and if you like pop music you should definitely check him out. It's a fun album, and definitely the first CD I've heard in awhile that I loved from first listen.

BIOGRAPHY

Quote:
Simon Curtis (born 1987) is an upcoming pop singer and songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Simon won the Popstar Magazine and Johnny Wright’s “Get Famous” contest, was named a national top 10 finalist in the “Britney Spears Samsung Superstar Tour,” was commissioned by Disney to provide a theme song for an annual Disneyland event, was named an official Oklahoma Ambassador of Music, and won The University of Tulsa Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance.

Simon was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 10. Later that same year Simon earned a coveted role in the national tour production of the musical Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He overcame his disease and completely defeated cancer.

After years of performing in at least 7 professional level operas or musicals a year, Simon had shifted his sights to the realm of pop music. Inspired by the current pop sensations Britney Spears and *NSYNC, Simon decided to record his first demo. At the age of 15 Simon completed his first set of recordings and began to shop them around. It was his encounter with managers Matthew Knowles and Laila Bagge later that summer that changed him forever though. After meeting with them and singing for them, Simon presented the two managers with his demo, and much to his dismay, was told that although he had stage presence and charisma beyond his years, he sounded like a broadway kid and wouldn’t ever get signed with that kind of sound. Taking their advice, Simon stopped performing in musicals altogether, began the process of breaking his voice down, and started to find one of his own.

With over one hundred fifty thousand downloads in just two weeks, Simon Curtis's infectious, electro-pop, giveaway album 8Bit Heart effectively succeeded in the defibrillation of BoyRobot hearts throughout the digital interworld. With Sirius-XM radio host and veteran Billboard senior editor Larry Flick calling it "equal parts smart, infectious, and instantly memorable," and Popjustice.com staking claim to Simon's "Beat Drop" as their song of the day, Simon has creatively hacked into the digital conscience of his loyal, maturing tween followers, and has broadened his mission to stay connected with an already impressive fan base as they reach their teen years and beyond.

Leaving Tulsa, Oklahoma at age eighteen, Simon had all the tools he needed to take a smash at Los Angeles' artistic outlets. Fighting and winning a bout with Leukemia at age ten taught Simon perseverance was his best friend and that even what we consider to be our deepest fears need only be seen as informidable obstacles. With that in mind, he went to work, and in only a few short years, Simon was quickly able to land a leading role on Nickelodeon's prime-time musical special Spectacular. Premiering before 3.9 million viewers (and over fifteen million viewers in it's first week on air), Spectacular was a monumental success. Further developing a fan base and creative outlet for Simon's budding career, Spectacular rolled out to one-hundred sixty-one territories across the globe with blow-out ratings for teen programming in Southeast Asia, Australia, Brazil, and Sweden. In addition to his time spent with Nickelodeon, Simon was also found buzzing the airwaves of Disney's empire as a love interest to America's beloved Hannah Montana.

Today, Simon has firmly planted his feet in the viral music scene and has set his sites on connecting with today's "connected" audience. A Twitter search with keyword simoncurtis brings a complex web of #boyrobot, #8Bitsoflove, #RobotMonster, and #android conversations. This Easter weekend, #SimonCurtis reached Twitter's worldwide top ten Trending Topics which lead Adam Lambert to reach out to Simon, asking for the up and comer to write on his next album. Fans and bloggers agree: the RobotArmy is in full force and each day more join the ranks. Simon Curtis's commission has been sent and you can find his marching orders being carried out here at Twitter, Facebook, SimonDaily, and Myspace.

I know right? I honestly thought that was really amazing when I first read it.

I hope he gets signed to a label. Pop needs more men in it.

I wasn't really that impressed by him, but he does have a pretty good voice compared to other (so called) singers out there. Thanks for sharing.

Downloading it now, but I'm loving the lyrics.

OMG I knew the name was familiar! It's Simon Curtis from Nickelodeon's Spectacular. I love that movie. <3

No problem, I'm sure he's not everyone's cup of tea. And I agree he is definitely better than a lot of singers out right now.

I've never seen Spectacular, but I heard about it. I love his lyrics though, and the beats are amazing.
