Assassin’s Creed, originally a co-op Prince of Persia spin-off with lady bits?

Quote:
New images of supposed “unreleased concept art” for Assassin’s Creed have hit the web, alongside some info which states that Altair could have been an entirely different character, as well as the game’s setting and even gameplay.

The artwork comes from an imgur user who goes by the name of VGTribune. Although no indications were given on who had supplied the quoted information found beneath the pictures, signatures amongst most of the pieces leave us to believe it might be coming from one of the game’s designer, Khai Nguyen.

Patrice Désilets, former creative director for the Assassin’s Creed series, is hinted at throughout the quotations giving directions to the designer on what personality the series would take. Toying with “high” and “low profile” assassin concepts, the creative director is even said to have considered making the game’s protagonist a female character and possibly including cooperative gameplay. The pieces of info which seem most interesting however, were the ideas which predated the actual creation of the game’s identity.

So glad it became AC instead.

Wow, I haven't visited this thread in ages. I blame it on the fact that I've taken a bit of a break from AC. That is, until I manage to get AC1 and Revelations, which will hopefully be this summer.

I thought he was a pretty outstanding character, actually.

I'm a little worried about that too. After having three games of Ezio, how exactly do Ubisoft expect us to warm up to a new character right away? I'm not saying that they won't create a convincing story for him, but I do think that the switch is going to be a tiny bit off-putting. If we had had Ezio for only one game (which was originally planned), then the switch wouldn't be as tough.

I can only say the same to you too.
That's because you didn't start with the first. There has already been a protagonist change in the franchise, that's why those who played the first don't find it weird/aren't disturbed. Ezio is overused now. If he had been reused for a further game it'd be boring.

Exactly. When I finished AC1 and was trying to find AC2 (this was in late 2010, so even ACB was already out), I used to look through this thread and the Ubisoft forums and feel lost, because everyone was talking about this Ezio guy, whereas the only protagonist of the AC series I knew was Altair. I wondered if I would even like the newer games, with the different protagonist. Then, once I got AC2 and started playing, I fell in love with Ezio about 10 minutes after meeting him, and haven't looked back since. I hope they make Connor just as sympathetic a character. Altair was a good enough protagonist in his own way, but he didn't grab a player's heart the way Ezio did.
