okay cat, seriously like I said not all arrested were even guilty of being in the group, why they dont just arrest those wearing those black outfits conceiling their faces I dont know, considering they were doing the majority of the damage.

Beliefs? Let me show you some of their "beliefs:"

And in the video, you saw some of them break the windows of the Starbucks store yes? Do you know what one of the anarchists said why he was doing this?

"the Zionists are the criminals. Starbucks is a front for the Zionists. Zionists are the most violent people on this earth, so we fight back this way. No people were injured, but corporate property is open game."

Its clear that they are in no way interested in ever stopping this. So I say they need to be stopped. Or else damage like this will be the scene at EVERY G20 summit:

I'm not disagreeing with you! I'm just saying I think that they need to be careful with how they go about punishing/stopping it.

The problem with combating these rioters is that the police can't really win. If they do so much as to try and calm things down and bring order you immediately get the free speech crowd crying over how the country is turning into a police state.

I agree with harsher punishment... punishment that reflects their thugish attitude and lack of respect for other people's property and wellbeing.

Given how their attitude is, I bet most of them still live with the parents and "plan" out their little actions while mommy brings em milk and cookies in the basement which they call their home.
That's why I don't think they have destroyed Toronto's image of tolerance. In reality, feelings were bound to run high and extreme individuals are inevitably going to turn up to such a high-profile political summit. So I don't think this will cause any long-term damage to the City's reputation but it does throw up the question of how violence should be prevented and how it should be minimalised. I think the response given was appropriate and to put it in context if we use the figures given out here, roughly 1% of those protesting were of that more extreme/violent disposition. Strictly going by figures, its not representative of the attitudes of the vast majority. That said, there's no doubt that in the short-term, it is going to negatively affect the overall mood. I guess Cat and others in the city would feel that more than most.

Like hell! I say give em the "treatment."
There's a difference between "roughly 100" and "100s", you know. Which means "roughly 100" violent protestors against 100s of police officers is something different than "100s" of protestors against 100s of police officers, entirely.

But you have to take into account that the approximately 100 violent protesters were hiding amidst thousands of other protesters, making it very difficult for the police to find and single them out.
