Arrow Welcome to the Batcave

Quote:
Batman is a fictional character created by the artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger. A comic book superhero, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939, and since then has appeared in many of DC Comics’ publications. Originally referred to as "the Bat-Man" and still referred to at times as "the Batman", he is additionally known as "the Caped Crusader", "the Dark Knight Detective" (or just simply "The Dark Knight") and "the World's Greatest Detective".

In the original version of the story and the vast majority of retellings, Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, an American millionaire (later billionaire) playboy, industrialist and philanthropist. Having witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on crime, an oath tempered with the greater ideal of justice. Wayne trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime. Batman operates in the fictional American Gotham City, assisted by various supporting characters including his crime-fighting partner, Robin, his butler Alfred Pennyworth, the police commissioner Jim Gordon, and occasionally the heroine Batgirl. He fights an assortment of villains such as the Joker, the Penguin and Catwoman, influenced by the characters' roots in film and pulp magazines. Unlike most superheroes, he does not possess any superpowers; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, wealth, physical prowess, and intimidation in his continuous war on crime.

Batman became a popular character soon after his introduction and gained his own comic book title, Batman, in 1940. As the decades wore on, differing interpretations of the character emerged. The late 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his dark roots, culminating in the 1986 miniseries Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, by writer-artist Frank Miller, while the successes of director Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman and Christopher Nolan's 2005 reboot Batman Begins also helped to reignite popular interest in the character.[3] A cultural icon, Batman has been licensed and adapted into a variety of media, from radio to television and film, and appears on a variety of merchandise sold all over the world.

Who is your favorite villian? - The Joker, he just captivates everything there is about a good antagonist. We know next to nothing about his past, he's completely unhinged to the point where it's almost super-human, he has no fear (Scarecrow once sprayed him with his Fear Gas and it had no effect), he only cares about himself, he's a complete schizophrenic and he commits his horrible crimes for simply one reason. It makes him laugh.

Who is your favorite hero? - Batman, melancholy, disturbed, as much as a 'freak' as the villains he faces. Batman like many of his Rogue Gallery, belongs in Arkham, however his standards are that of a good nature, whereas near everyone else in Gotham is corrupt or evil.

Who is your favorite character in general? - The Joker, his title as 'Greatest Comic Book Villain' is well earned, he completely changes character every time we see him. One minute he will be a complete psychotic, the next he'll be a disturbed jester. He was created by the man who always thwarts his schemes, there is no Joker without Batman and there is no Batman without Joker. I find their chemistry very thought provoking and deep, although Harley Quinn is supposed to be Joker's girlfriend, there is a lot of undeniable evidence that Joker has a homosexual relationship/attraction towards Batman. You could write an encyclopaedia on this characters mental condition alone.

What's you favorite movie?
- The Dark Knight, Ledger's Joker is one of the greatest portrayals of a comic book character ever. Then, Batman Returns, Michelle Pheifer made that film. Then followed by Mask of the Phantasm deserves an honourable nod. Mark Hamill is my favourite Joker.

What's your favorite episode from the shows? (If you've seen them) - Mad Love and The Laughing Fish.

What's your favorite game? - Batman: Arkham Asylum, it was essentially 'Batman: The Animated Series: The Game', I absolutely loved every second.

What's your favorite comic/graphic novel? - I'd have to say The Killing Joke, the relationship between Batman and Joker is nothing short of sheer perfection in that story.

Great answers Jo. And I've never heard of that fan film before Agent 47, know where I can get more info on it?

Who is your favorite villian? - The Joker, he's twisted, hilarious, and somewhat likable. You know a villian is amazing when he manages to make you like him and hate him at the same time. His chemistry with the Dark Knight is beyond interesting, and like you said Jo, you never know how he is going to be when you see him next.

Who is your favorite hero? - Batman, the fact he has no powers and fights crime only with the gadgets he has is awesome. I love the fact that he is basically as mentally damaged as all of his villians. I also love Batgirl, she was everything a sidekick should be. Who needs Robin?

Who is your favorite character in general? - Catwoman, she comes from a very damaged past. I've never considered her a villian or a hero, she's just doing her own thing. Her relationship with Batman is sad yet beautiful. They both are from different worlds, yet they both have a lot in common.

What's you favorite movie? Batman Return, Tim Burton captured the world of Gotham perfectly in my eyes. Michelle Pfeiffer's performance as Catwoman is another reason why it's my favorite film. No one will be able to top that, her lines with Batman & Bruce are well written and as the film goes on you're rooting for them to be together. Danny DeVito also gets a nod because his performance as the Penguin was perfect, while you hate the Penguin you also pitty him.

What's your favorite episode from the shows? (If you've seen them) - Mad Love <3333

What's your favorite game? - Batman: Arkham Asylum, the perfect comic book game in my eyes. It took visual inspiration from my favorite graphic novel, and it was faithful to the world of Batman. Mark Hamill is THE Joker in my eyes, so his performance also makes the game what it is.

What's your favorite comic/graphic novel? - Arkham Asylum: Serious House on Serious Earth. It's dark, twisted, and incredibly ****ed up. I got chills reading it, and the visual style of it is beautiful and twisted in it's own way. Another one I want to mention is the Killing Joke, the end is memorable in itself.

I've been commanded to post.
I love Batman.
I'll answer the questions later in an edit to this post, if I remember.

I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of making the questions more English-friendly. Apologies for the brief answers. I didn't think I needed much explanation.

Who is your favourite villain? The Joker.

Who is your favourite hero? Batman.

Who is your favourite character in general? Catwoman.

What's you favourite film? Batman Returns. Meow.

What's your favourite episode from the shows? Can't think of one right now.

What's your favourite game? Arkham Asylum.

What's your favourite comic/graphic novel? Haven't decided. I'll edit in the future.

Who is your favorite villian? - The Joker. An obvious choice, but he really is the perfect arch-nemesis for Batman. There is a great deal of mystique that surrounds him and it's hard not to be totally absorbed by his wild antics.

Who is your favorite hero? - Batman. I've never cared much for other superheroes as I don't think they offer as much depth as this character does. He also tends to look extremely cool no matter what incarnation you're experiencing.

Who is your favorite character in general? - It would have to be Batman, of course.

What's you favorite movie? - Batman Returns is my favourite of the Batman films. From the towering set design to the music, it's incredibly stylish, but there's also much of the way of substance. The relationships between the characters are fascinating and each character is given the right amount of development and interest.

What's your favorite episode from the shows? - I've always really liked Feat of Clay, Robin's Reckoning and Make 'Em Laugh. I think The Animated Series as a whole is a brilliant show, and probably captures the nature of the characters more successfully than any of the films. Batman Beyond is also a brilliant, overlooked successor.

What's your favorite game? - Batman: Arkham City. I thought it was tougher and more varied than its predecessor and I liked the open-world environment. There are also some earlier Batman games which I really enjoy, including Batman for the NES which was based on the '89 film.

What's your favorite comic/graphic novel? - Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. Often imitated but never bettered. It's rife in symbolism, the art design is incredible and it always provides a great read. If only they'd make a Batman film as twisted and surreal as this book.

Great answers Dale, and the part about the films makes sense sort of. And you better answer them later Jack...or else! If anyone can think of other questions let me know and I'll add them to the first post.

Has anyone else seen the show Birds of Prey? I recently bought the series on DVD, and I wish it had never gotten cancelled. It started off cheesy, but it got better as the season went on. It had loads of potential. Also, did anyone else watch Under the Red Hood? If so, what did you think?

Bat in the Sun are no strangers to Batman fans who love fan-films, but you all should check out their latest entry, 'City of Scars'.
