Default The Next American President

I want to know who you would like to see become America's next president. Whether or not you are American (but please indicate if you or not), doesn't matter.

Please include reasons why and feel free to tell us who you would least like to see win (with reasons) as well.

NOTE: Simply posting 'Obama' or another one word answer will be reported as spam. This is for serious discussion only.

I'll withhold my own personal choices until the thread gets a few replies.

As long as there are those who want to keep division at the forefront, nothing's going to change... and that covers each and every one of them. For a country that's supposively about strength in unity, the lack of which that we see is appalling. That is why the vicious cycle keeps repeating itself and will continue to do so. Politics is nothing more than a game not unlike any other competition and we are all to blame (some [those who like that game] more than others).

So the short answer is: It does not matter.

That is pretty accurate, if not exactly on topic. Many 'experts' think the party system is antiquated.

Well what better alternative is there to the party system?

As for who I would like to see as president, I don't know yet.

I just hope it won't be Michele Bachmann.

There is nobody currently in the running who I'd really want to be president of the US. On the one hand, Obama has accomplished very little, and the divide between the political camps has rather increased under him. On the other hand, I am not too happy with republican side - I'd rather support slightly increased tax, especially a repeal of the Bush tax cuts, and in return more social programs like health care, instead of cutting them. Plus, I think the US could profit from more money going into rail passenger transportation, and I don't think any of the republican presidents would put much effort into that.

The part that affects me more directly is foreign politics. There are a couple of things in american foreign politics that I am unhappy with. But those are mostly things I was unhappy with under Bush, and they haven't changed (enough) under Obama. I don't expect they'll change (much) under his successor either.

All in all, I'd rather want someone like Obama than someone like the republican candidates, and if I were a US citizen I'd vote for him. But he is not exactly a dream candidate for the job.

Well for one, a no party system. Let anyone run on equal ground and let the voters sort it out.

Would political parties be banned under such a system?
