New Level Editor - WIP 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISIyDtTu6C8
Level Editor with preview of a level made by Juanchi. A lot of major update and changes - in fact too many to mention. Simple Drag and Drop item placement - You can drag static meshes or items directly into your Level - it has a bit of intelligence - in that the editor will push the object away from the surface so it doesn't clip geometry. It only works with world geometry at the moment - but we'll put in static mesh and items - so you can stack objects really easily. You can also change the height of the objects with a different key press. We'll do some more work on this later. It's pretty good at the moment - not too clunky and very quick to populate your level with detail - which is the main focus of the editor. Currently it doesn't re-light any new objects or moved objects but we'll sort that out later. We've also put in a placeholder particle system (don't laugh it's a bit mickey mouse at the moment :P ). Also added a "Tutorial Helper" which displays the keyboard and mouse - so you can what is being pressed/moved to edit stuff (keyboard doesn't display which keys yet tho ). This could be handy for Tutorial Vids. Big thanks: Meta2tr for helping out with the Floor Tile collision code and extended UV's Sapper helping out with the corrupt level loading issue Juanchi for his amazingly detailed levels for testing disapearing-boy and !Lara Croft! for help with the animation Skinning (which is not done yet ) R.Stone (or is he M.Bartoli), Popov, Rgbold, TRWad, Turbo Pascal, Dr. Willard, Yuri Zhivago: for the TR Data file format doc and all the folk helping out on the Forums... Any comments or Ideas to improve this are welcome - but we might not answer because were busy as all this week. This is still a few weeks away from a release date - but we'll let you know when. Looking very good!
Makes it so much easier to add more objects and while being ingame it is a fast way to see if newly placed objects look good. I'm wondering what the workflow will be... Make complete level in the original editor first, then use this editor? So... no. It is not downloadable yet. |

It looks great, and it seems we can populate our levels very quickly!
Also, thanks for the mention, happy to help. I see from the video you've made some progress on the skinning... Lara's torso and knees look done. I meant to ask earlier, do you have all the vertice numbers you need? I'm sure there was a list somewhere.. Now I need to get working on my level so I'll have something to use it on! |
