How important is the look/appearance in your potential partner/lover?

I am quite curious to know your views.
How much does the look of your partner influences your relationship and how much is the appearance of a person worth to you for a potential relationship?

I would like to hear some thoughts

I don't really like the looks vs. personality debate. I think that if you get butterflies for somebody because of their personality, you'll find them attractive anyway, and vice versa.

Well, looks do come into it, but I'm not exactly sure of how much. Physical attraction certainly works as a really good 'ice-breaker', but I agree with Changeling that you can find somebody physically attractive through liking their personality. For example, a few of my celebrity crushes aren't exactly known for being really attractive and although I can see why people would think that way, I still find them physically attractive and perhaps their personalities have something to do with that.

Seeing as my chosen method of attraction is laughter then looks are not as important as much as personality and humour.

Pretty important. I could never pursue a relationship with somebody I'm not attracted to. Then again, I could never do that if I didn't know them pretty well before-hand as well. Personality is just as important.
