I think the problem is in the choice of words Rosenberg used, he basically said that the challenges that lara faces during the game will make us root for her in a way that a male character couldn't.
Anyway I think CD should address this, there's already a petition to boycott the game because of this lol. Last edited by Lost_Paradise; 13-06-12 at 15:34. |

This is getting really out of hand. So much bad press for this. This is going to have a huge effect on sales.
People don't seem to fully understand what's going on. CD really do need to address this officially and use a better choice of words. This "rape" story is getting bigger and bigger every day because of all this. The hate that this game is getting because of this is just...crazy crazy crazy.

I don't understand why this supposed 'rape' scene is getting so much attention. Kurtis had more of a feel than that guy

I do think the moaning is a little excessive and I do wish they would tone that down a bit but I don't see how Lara biting him in the ear, kicking him in the nuts, and shooting him in the face doesn't show a strong female character. People think that CD is full of male developers who are fulfilling sick and twisted fantasies with Lara. It's that simple. And it's ignorant. Everyone is just following the press train as usual.

This game is rated mature and its audience should therefore be mature.
Rape or attempted rape happens every day all over the world. It's not a cheap gimmick, but a fact of life. The threat on an island populated with "starved" men, is very real and quite logical. For Lara to survive that, she would have to be or become a strong woman. I'm not saying women that have had this unfortunate experience are weak, but for Lara, it would be a pivotal point in her life. It's logical, real and happens every day. To try and pretend it doesn't happen and shy away from the fact is cheap. Tomb Raider is shaping up to be a great game and story worth telling. At least they didn't go the whole 9 yards a.k.a "The Last House on the Left" |
