An Adventerous Proposal!

As you may know, me and Laura (Lavinder) first met on these forums five years ago, fuelled by both our passion for Tomb Raider and adventure. Our love and friendship has grown stronger each year.

Well, the time was right and two weeks ago I proposed to Laura, in a way that we thought was sharing with you adventurous lot. I’ve only just gotten around to writing this up – we thought it would be a nice thing to mention on here. Now, this wasn’t your typical proposal – but took shape based on our love of Geocaching, treasure hunting and adventurous shenanigans, all taken from our love of Tomb Raider and the like.

In the morning was my graduation, with the sun shining, the atmosphere was perfect. After months of planning for this day, everything was set for an afternoon adventure. I had created an iPhone app (as you do!) which was to show Laura the away for her adventure. The idea for the proposal was to allow Laura to follow the app, and use the map to find each location in which a clue to the next was placed. Once she had found the clue at each location, then she must enter it into the app to find the next location. She was to progress each level, and collect each ‘virtual coin’ until she had found all six.

We started out on a sunny country lane, (in which I accompanied her along the way because she wasn’t feeling too good), with a scroll giving her instructions on what was about to happen and how to proceed. She had no idea what was happening at this point. The scroll told her to where download the app, and to follow the onscreen instructions. There was also a satnav and GPS in case the crappy phone reception failed (which it did) just in case!

Anyway, the adventure was underway and the first answer was right behind where we began, and took her some time to find the camouflaged rock – this led to Level 2, and the first coin was collected. She needed to find all six before she could find the final destination. After finding them all, and visiting many places where we have spent some good times together, she was onto the last one. The final clue took us to a lovely rock formation where we have spent many times up there; a secret picnic was to be had with champagne, chocolates and strawberries. And then there I gathered the ring, and popped the question. Luckily, she said yes!

So just a thank you to these forums for bringing us together, I just wanted to share this little story with you. This is the end of one adventure, with another just beginning.
