Default Will there ever be a Windows Port?

Emulating Tomb Raider sucks... does anybody think that there'll ever be a release for Windows? Why can't Squaresoft just release the source code like Id did with Doom, or like other companies have done with their old games? I was recently playing a fanmade PC port (ZDoom mod) of the PS1 version of Doom and it was amazing.

I have always dreamt of a Windows source port with the features of the PlayStation version (save crystals and vibrant textures) but with high resolution graphics and all the bugs fixed.

With the 20th anniversary coming up next year, who knows.

All I can say is I hope so. For the 20th Anniversary I would love a TR1 Definitive Edition: Windows support for TR1 and UB with cleaned up FMVs, music, horizontally extended widescreen frame, remastered textures (across the whole game, not randomly just half)

Phlip said everything I'm thinking right now. It's about time to release a proper port for this masterpiece. Many gamers would appreciate it!

I like the game the way they made it for the PC. It is a perfect game in my opinion, nothing more needs to be added to it. But if someone wants to create the Playstation version for the PC, go for it.

But would it have the ambient sound effects as well? If so, then it would be a hybrid.

That would be nice if they re-mastered Tomb Raider to work on Windows 10 without DosBox.

I know I'm going off topic (), but I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of TR2. Yes, I wasn't a big fan of TRA, but I'm thinking a remake of TR2 would be very cool on modern consoles!!

CD should not touch TR2 after the disgrace of Anniversary plus knowing them there turn it like TR2013 so no thank you

TR1 port to windows is a must, there could port the IOS version with the HD textures and actually finish off the Egypt level and Atlantis levels

I'd love to see a port to modern systems, but honestly I think our best hope is that OpenTomb will one day work well.

Maybe something like this(http://gynvael.coldwind.pl/?id=278) is an option.
They basicly converted a MS-DOS game(syndicate wars) to windows with the use of a library called SDL.
Its very nicely done and documented(http://recon.cx/2010/slides/recon_swars.pdf),
but maybe its a little bit too much work and OpenTomb already got things running on windows (if i am correct).

I have read up about that before. I wonder if anybody has moved anything forward with it, as the last post on that thread is from April of this year?

A Windows port where you can basically choose between PC or PS1 version would be amazing... or have a settings option where you can basically have a mixture of the two. The thing I most dislike about the DOS version is the inability to replay levels you have completed if you haven't saved before each level, and allocated each save to a slot. It was nice to look at the level select list on the PS1 and see how far you'd come from the Caves.
