Game shuts down

I have just finished the Guardian of Semerkhet level and after the movie clip plays, the screen shows that it is loading the next level but instead of opening, the screen disappears and the game shuts down.I have tried reinstalling the game but it doesn't make a difference.Can you shed some light on this. Thanks. This is the PC version of Tomb Raider.

I had this happen to me a few times when I first started playing Tomb Raider. Usually, it's something with your system that causes it to blow up. There's probably numerous things with video, sound, etc. that will cause this. You'll probably get a reply from another of our Administrators as well.

I originally had an old sound card. When I selected that sound card instead of the default in the setup, my program would crash as yours does. So, being clever, I ran out and bought Sound Blaster Live. Put it in and, thinking I would do away with the problem, proceeded to again configure the game to use the card. Boom! Still blew up. I still have to use the default rather than my card. Hopefully someone will know enough to help you straighten thins out.

I am having the EXACT same problem!!!!!!any body figure out what was going on? In the answer, a default was mentioned.....explain please. I'd like to continue.......on a roll and having fun....

I had this same problem, for months. could not proceed on with the game. In the end I emailed eidos help desk, and they advised me to go into options, set up dialogue box, and something like tick the "buffer" box. And it worked.
