How long does it take to build a level?

Well that really depends on the type and size of the level you want to build. The more complicated and the more rooms then the longer it will take.

In order to play it, when you've finished your level, you need to output the WAD. This will convert all of the information that you've put in your level into a .TOM file. Then you need to open up your level convertor and put your new .TOM file into it and press build. This will convert your .TOM file and all of the other files in your WAD into a .TR4 file which you can then play.

If this is your first attempt at building a level, I think it would be easier not to rename your level for now. Just use one of the levels that come with the level editor (Karnak, cleopal etc..). The reason is that if you rename your .TOM and all of the WAD elements it will build you a .TR4 file of the same name, this won't appear on the game menu. Obviously you can get it to put it the game menu if you want, but just to begin with, I'd keep it simple and get used to using the editor.

Hope this helps, if not let me know and I'll try to help.

I've currently made two levels. You can find them at www.tombraiderchronicles.com.

1. The Court of Tamuhnra
2. The Lost Temple of Kolobaine

You'll find the first on the 21-40 levels page, the second (my new level) is on the 181-200 levels page.

I hope you like them

Dan

I'm not sure what you mean, can you explain what it is you want to do, are you looking to make a level or just play a downloaded one?

OK, people, here´s how to play your new created levels:

1) Create your level in the Level Editor. For now, use a standard WAD (tut1, coastal, etc.). Please remember which WAD you´re using.

2) When you´re done, save it and then choose Output WAD from the Project menu.

3) Locate the WAD you´ve used (C/Prog Files/Core Design/trle/graphics/wads) and click on it. Then click Save. Be sure to choose the same WAD you´ve used in your level, or you´ll have trouble.

4) When Room WAD Output appears, click OK and then exit the Editor.

5) Open the Level Convertor. In Edit Script, click the Add button.

6) Click on the same WAD name you´ve used and output, and click on Open. The name of the WAD will appear in the left window.

7) Now click the Build All button. A list of actions will begin to appear in the right window.

8) When Build All Complete appears at the end of the list, you can exit the Level Convertor.

9) Now Run Tomb Raider, select new game and choose the name of the overwritten level (eg. if you´ve used the Tut1 WAD, your level will be under Playable Tutorial Level, and so on).

Hope this helps!

If you want to play my level City of Blezqi Zatsaz, it can be downloaded here in this site.

Thanks!
