Question

Hey,

I seem to be having a problem with my pick-up trigger.

It doesn't want to work. All of the other triggers that I have set (switch, key etc..) seem to be fine, but when I set the pick up and play it, it don't seem to function, why is this??

Is there an number in the OCB that I'm not pressing? Or could it be down to a faulty WAD (I'm using the original Catacombs wad)?

Please help as it's important to my story.

Thanks

Dan

Please forgive me if I'm a bit dense today, but exactly how is it not working? What are you trying to do?

It not be workin in the sense of:

I want Lara to pick up an object and then trigger a door to open, or maybe an earthquake will happen.

If this trigger is working, when Lara picks up the puzzle piece the door should open, correct? Well, it's not happening. Lara picks the object and nothin' happens. The door remains closed.

So in order to get the door open and allow her through into the next part of the level I've had to make it so the door opens as she stands on the square the puzzle piece is on, therefore meaning that you can advance into the level without actually picking certain objects up.

This may not seem too much of a problem you might say as most people are going to pick the object up anyway, this is probably true but when it comes to things like triggering traps for an object or, like I said, an earthquake it all goes wrong and the trap goes off before she has what she needs.

Hope this answers your question and that you'll have a suggestion.

Cheers

Okay, I understand and do have a suggestion. I haven't done it myself, but I have seen this answer several times in the last few days. This is a direct quote from jbc21 on the EIDOS forums and posted today:

"Your first attempt was good (a pick up trigger under the object, plus a simple trigger for the trap door over this pick up) but ou need also to enter the number 64 in the object's OCB in order to activate the pick up trigger (plus any other number according to your object position: on a piedestal, on the floor... Refer to page 83 in the manual)".

Hopefully they know what they're talking about and it works for you!
